Jets overpowered or underpowered?

First off I've been lurking here for a while but I've decided to give this place another shot!

Anyway I've been browsing the Battlelog forums for awhile and I've seen a lot of people complaining about jets being underpowered and I completely agreed but then I found this thread today that changed my mind a littlebit:

The TS seemed pretty pissed off but the video he linked was pretty damn amazing, the Guided-missiles seems perhaps a littlebit too powerful.. What do you guys think?

Overpowered/Underpowered or perhaps balanced?
 
Well its to early to say wait till more people use them, diff maps, and joystiqs com along then u can say
 
from my personal experience with them, they can be very powerful tools with a team that supports it. But for a person just first hopping into a jet with no unlocks, life is pretty rough. Its pretty much from the second you take off beeping from stinger locks or higher ranked jet pilots with heatseekers and you either are dodging missile locks or attempting to dog fight and hoping a missile doesnt hit you while you are trying to shoot another jet down with only guns, which only gives at most 100-150 a kill because usually the enemy pilot can bail out before the jet blows up. Regenerative vehicle health is part of the problem for dog fighting with guns because one bad move and the enemy can lose you and regen health.

But if you have a team that is actively taking out the enemy AA vehicles and a bit of luck with the enemy team not having 5 engineers camping jet respawns with stingers and other AA launchers. But without flares or stealth, flying jets for awhile will be a nightmare on maps like caspian border.
 
Well in the video posted on the forum, the guy is literally just killing people with the Air to ground missle. I would have to say that it does seem a bit overpowered, but I can't decide if it is fair that way or not. I can understand if they are disabled with the chance for them to repair it. But idn..
 
It's a bit early to consider if the jets are overpowered, as I'm sure Dice has made a lot of changes to the game that aren't in the beta. Personally, I don't care about the planes, as their main role is to dogfight each other and take out helos. Stay on the ground and they're nothing more than some bothersome bugs flying around my head.
 
Overpowered when I'm not using them, underpowered when I am!

Didn't use the jets much aside from yesterday when I decided to do nothing but work on their unlocks. Manged to get flares but not heat seekers before I had to leave for the day. Was pretty rough going against people glitching, or those with heat seekers already.

The machine gun on jets could use a damage upgrade for sure.

underpowered for beginners, going against heat seekers and guided missiles is very difficult without defenses

I'm not really wanting to say this, but I have to disagree with the damage output on the mounted guns on jets. It only takes half of a burst, if all of them hit, to take a jet down--it just takes precise shooting. I know that in times it seems like you have been hitting them a lot, which you might have, but the health could have been regenerated after not hitting the jet for so long.

What makes me a little upset is not being able to take out tanks/mobile AA's with the guns, though it's better not that way. That's why they included the air-to-ground missles (which are in debate).
