Well I think this group has done it, I actually liked hardcore for the first time Sunday.
The story goes as this, while playing on heavy metal, I hear a call in vent to help come start the rush hc server, now we all know I am not a big fan of hc, and my reasons are simple..I am slow, can't see very well, and simply put I feel like a liability to my team. Anyway I go to answer the call, thinking my usual,"yea, i will stay till it is going and go back to normal".
I ended up staying longer than I have have, one reason was I got to play with a lot of eGO's that I don't normally get to play with,but, another reason is, while talking in vent, some one says to me,"What you don't want to have fun with us?"
Well that sort of struck me a little deep, and sort of left me with nothing to say, I mean it wasn't that I didn't want to have fun with them, it was I think I really suck in hc, I die about 4 times more than I kill, I don't know the maps at all, so I feel like a liability.
In the rounds that I played, I was the only one that thought this way, so yea I had fun I racked up enough deaths to kill an elephant 5 times over,but, I don't care, go ahead look at my stats, they are nothing to be proud of, they never were even in BF2. It was the sheer joy of playing, and playing with my brothers in arms, my clan mates, and my new friends.
It will take me some time to get to love it like the rest of you,but, for now...I think I am converted...

Damage in HC is way better than in normal, and i can be a lot more sneeky

The worst thing you can do when having fun is worry about stats. Think about how myself and bmonk3y play, we play aggressive snipers just running in and shooting off the little bolt action one hit wonders every where. Why do we do this? Because we can't tolerate sitting on our butts in a mountain range sniping people, it's boring, actually, it's infinitely boring, nothing you can do to it will ever make it more interesting or more fun, it always gets more boring, lol. So by us running in we've adapted to that whole, dieing a lot thing, and by doing so, we've altered our play style to have fun while dieing a lot, which bypasses the "my stats suck now." thing. I've been playing this way since I started on these servers and joined up on this soldier name and I'm ranked #3 on our servers. So eventually Mr. Beemer, you can achieve fun and good stats, just takes time.

Welcome to the dark side....lol...It didnt take me long when I first started playing. The only reason I play normal is because there isnt any hardcore servers active....

Yeah I was definately the same way when I joined eGO. Wouldn't bother even looking at an HC server, but once I joined to help fill, I got sucked in. Mostly just because I love playing with the division, but I've adapted to HC =)

I was the same when I switched to this division, but that is mostly because I was a former CS player and just got off playing wow for 6 years so my fps skills were, and still are rusty. Normal is nice to learn the maps and start out on. I went back to normal last night after having played only BF3 for the last 2 weeks and BF3 made me play way better in BC2. I think I'm more prepared now to step into the HC servers and hold my own. If you don't come from the modem fps games then BF becomes quite a bit of a steep learning curve. HC mode is intimidating and a good majority of the members have adapted to it so well it becomes rather not fun getting killed by them all the time =P Don't get me wrong in this I always enjoy playing with you all but when your going up against people and you know their skill level is going to rape yours.... It's nice to be able to take a step back and go on the normal mode servers.

I play to have fun as everyone should simply put it's a game. Just like learning the guitar or art or your new job everything comes in time. With games becoming more and more environmentally detailed it takes time to adapt to them.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed playing with the guys on HC mode. I have come in a few times to helped fill them up and it is a lot of fun when you get on vent with 6-7 other eGOs goofing around.

I have to agree with Hordor. When you start playing (I know, it was only July when I did; ), its hard to find out where to go on the maps. Normal is great for exploring, because of the health regen and the fact that you can take more shots. However, after a while, once you can find your way, hardcore is the clear choice. Its much more realistic, fun, and to the point than normal (don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a good match or two of normal, just not so much).
