Its a scam. They are NOT an independent company! They're funded by CD Projekt, the same publisher who funded The Witcher and The Witcher 2, and they have received 3 million dollars USD in funding for Afterfall: Insanity. This isn't being nice by setting an unrealistic goal to convince people to donate to charity, this is a clever way to spend no money on commercials.

I don't like how they're acting like this is a deal to everyone, because it isn't. Theres only 6 million active members on steam (this includes mac) which makes up for 50-70 percent of the PC gaming market which includes Macs. So they'd need to pull an extra %50-30 out of their butt or everyone would have to buy two copies.

10 million preorders seem possible....although they waited a bit long to say something. If I remember correctly, the game is supposed to be released November 25th....Its only a dollar, so I suppose people can afford to preorder more than one copy, which is more than likely to happen.

They posted online that if they don't reach 10 million pre-orders, all of that money goes to charity. Tens of thousands of people have seen it, so they have to. This isn't a gamble. It's not a scam. It's a very unrealistic goal, but I'm still going to do it just for the sake of it.

Now, if they do miraculously pull this off, they pocket 90% of the money, send 10% to charity (which is still $1 million), and at the end of the deal, we all get the game for $1. This is a win/win scenario. What's cool is that they make a cool $9 million on this project, which probably cost them roughly $200k to make. Everyone wins.

If you can't part with a single dollar, PC gaming is not the place for you (it's an expensive hobby)

But from what I gathered from that video, they have an unreasonable goal and if they don't reach it then it WONT cost $1. Therefore its a gamble because it *could* be $1 or full-price.

Did I interpret this wrong?

full-price minus $1. They say that in the video as well.

You're not losing anything buy making a preorder... unless you don't intend to get the game. In that case, you will probably donate $1 to charity, so you're still not losing it... just donating it.
