Stellar Impact - Space DotA type game

Plenty of great PC games pay homage to the classic Warcraft 3 mod Defense of the Ancients​, but until now none have dared stray beyond the thematic bounds of high fantasy. Stellar Impact is a French indie game that goes where no DotA clone has gone before, mixing traditional DotA gameplay with a dash of hard sci-fi to create a challenging fast-paced tactical combat game. It?s the first title developed by Tindalos Interactive, and you can download the client and play ten full matches for free before coughing up 10? (about $15) to keep going.

Got it working. Apparently you need to use the download link found on this version of their website as they have some issues with their download code. It is pretty addicting actually! The more I play the more entertaining it is, my first match I found the game to be dull, but after my 3rd match I was understanding the game and playing well. My favorite so far is playing as a combat frigate (2 maneuvering, 2 combat skills). They do have some issues to work out, such as the occasional glitch and the biggest problem, lag. Their network code is pretty bad but when lag appears it usually only lasts a few seconds.

On a side note, you can play the game for free forever, not just for 10 matches. The only thing is that as a free player, the chance of getting good items is lower and your ships cannot "level up" past MK1 a.k.a starter level.

Forgive me for being late to the party. Just bought this game and it looks sweet. I bought the Steam bundle which gives you the game and the DLC ships for only $12.

Anyone else playing this or interested in getting into it? Will post more as I check it out.

Yeah this is pretty addicting. I feel like I have a lot to learn and I haven't run into as much elitism yet, but it is there. One game hadn't even gone five minutes and one player pretty much said "Well this game is a loss, shall I review what you all did wrong?"

We'll see how the community for it is. If players would rather bully and blame instead of teach and mentor I won't give it too much more time.

I think I'm settling into a corvette for those nice quick hit and run attacks. The last game I tried my setup with a Frigate only to have the senior member of my team say my setup should be used with a corvette lol. Will keep posted. Hope others play this, would be fun to have an eGO presence in it.
