Runs okay but will need upgrading...planning to do so in June 2012 when I go to Malaysia! :thumbup:

Running the Beta well I didn't at all really, having to deploy every time on high graphics on this system and trying to change settings it a nightmare because every time it would crash so I just gave up and never got to play the Beta :(

i'm using a geforce gtx 465 and i ran the beta without issues. only problem i had was the game crashing and needing to reboot after a game and a half but alot of people had that issue. And i played on high settings without lag.

lol. Apparently, a recommended setting means nothing any more. Did it not say recommended was a GTX 460?

5870 is a stronger card than the 6870, you need to run atleast two 6870 in crossfire to get playable performance. Better would be to get two 5870's right now as they are as cheap as the 6870 and will give you a much better jump. I was running BF3 with two 5870's at max settings at 90fps avg.

Dont make that mistake, read the reviews on the web, the 6870 is not superior to the 5000 series, be careful, dont go on the numbering system.

There's no way you'd need 2 6870's to get playable performance, unless you mean on full Ultra settings. I played with a 5750 with all medium settings for the first 2 days and got more than playable FPS. Got my GTX 560 Ti and it was even better.

A 6870 should be plenty good, especially for the price, but you also have to understand that technology moves fast and the smaller the upgrade, the sooner you'll be upgrading again. A 6870 should last you a while though.

The 5750 performed well because the 5000 series is superior than the 6870. The 5000 series cards were high end one while the 6870 is a budget card which does not pack as much as power as the 5000 series. One 6870 will not get you more than 25 FPS on even medium settings, I would recommend the GTX 480 instead of the 6870. If you want to get around 50-60 FPS, you will need two 6870's for sure, and thats on Medium settings.

ohh sry I read it wrong, I thought we were still talking about the 5870 lol ya the 5750 is less powerful for sure but going back to the 5870 it is still a much more stronger card than the 6870. I woulnt recommend buying the 6870, its much more wiser to get the 6970 as it will future proof you as well. IF you still want to stick in the $200 margin then nothing better than the 5870 right now.

I have done my research and in NZ the pries are very different!! http://www.pp.co.nz/ for example, one of the leading online computer component stores and my favorite for sure. Have a look under video card and convert the prices and you'll see why, I'm not going over $350NZD for a graphics card
 
But in saying that when I go to Malaysia prices will crap loads cheaper, even than the US, so I will be going over with a list of gpu's, cpu's, mobo's, etc and compare prices and see which is the best for value.
 
In general, why would you buy a previous gen card, ie 5000 series and 400 series from Nvidia.

KillercanKill, comparing the 5870 to the 6870 is out of the question. IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO THAT CARD. It compares to 6970..

Im just recommending what card he should get. For me, I have a 6970, and its a beast, however BF3 is a power hungry game, and I get 70fps avg.

So if he gets previous gen cards, he would have to double his spending, and get a second card because he might not be satisfied with the performance.

Overall, just trying to save you money man. Either go 6870 or gtx 560. Or higher if you have the $$

What is the total if you buy 2x 6870?

If its over $330, then I would STRONGLY suggest you get one 6970. As it will run cooler and less noise. I believe it is better in performance too, and you have to option to Xfire in the future..
