Is this headset worth it? Anyone have personal experience?

I've never owned a Turtle Beach, however, my personal experience is that the less expensive products do the job just as well or better than the more expensive ones. The microphone monitor can be done with any headset, by using other programs. Personally, I'd say no, but if you like it and have the money, why not?

i dont know about those in particular but i have several friends that own turtle beach head phones and say they are amazing

In my experience, as long as they are surround sound you will get the tactical advantage from them.
And as long as they are hi-def, you will get the high quality.

Turtle Beaches have really good sound quality, but I had a pair for the PlayStation and they snapped. Poor build quality. For PC gaming, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-7-1-Channel-Surround-Sound-Headset/dp/B001O5CCQK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318981159&sr=8-1"]this[/ame] is the headset I use, which I love.

Going from 15ish years of stereo to 5.1 is... weird

The quick disconnect isnt that good, if it isnt connected perfectly right, some sound goes missing in the left side

you could of bought a Sennheiser HD 515 Stereo Headphones and a cheap little clip on mic. Love the qaulity in the Sennheiser in general
