Mortar & Brick stores midnight releases

So for those of us who decided to get a hard copy of :drool: Battlefield 3 :drool: from the brick & mortar stores (GameStop, BestBuy, etc) Who is actually going to wait for the midnight release? I ordered through GameStop, and i believe that most of their locations are opening at 10pm to handle the sale transactions and then handing out product at midnight.

I've never done a midnight release, and i'm actually not planning on starting now. I work tuesday morning & i'll just grab it on my way home.

But let me know, those of you that are going to line up, what exactly you plan on doing.
 
I don't think it will be super packed where I am, sure there will be quite a few people. I plan to get there around 11pm should be plenty of time to get it around midnight or a little after. I have been through quite a few midnight releases, some of the wow expansions were hours of wait time after midnight. Highly doubt it will be that bad.
 
I went to the SCII midnight release and it was thoroughly boring. Like 15 people were there.
 
i plan on going to gamestop at 11:30 , the only thing that im worried about is the console nerds
 
Midnight releases usually consist of nerds (like myself) waiting in line to buy a game so they can speed home to play it. I will be waiting at gamestop to on monday night for my hard copy so I can have a little momento for this glorious day.
 
And why not just pre-order and download it now? Then come midnight, you can start playing...

Because some of us do like having the hard copy of certain games, and for the box art & stuff like that. Remember when you used to only be able to get your games at an actual store? Yeah, we're retro.

I went to the Gears of War 3 Midnight release and never again will I go to one. Dang was it ever so boring. Now if I lived in NYC or LA then it will be better because of more people.
 
I went to a couple midnight releases. It's fun to talk crap with the people waiting in line. The latest one I went to was for sc2, there was like 10 people max lol. But cus of all the TV commercials and console noobs who swear they're hardcore bf fans b/c they've been playing since bc1 are going to be there, it's going to be one hell of a wait. I'm probably thinking 50+ for my location, about 5 of them ordered it for pc including me lol.

I wouldn't mind having a hard copy of a lot of my games... however I could care less about what the box looks like.

I'm going to buy skyrim because I usually buy the box for single player games. I want the book and the box art in the text in back etc., but I'm going to buy the box for bf3 cus I'm a battlefield fan :D
 
I don't really care about a box but I do know that with plenty of my steam games I've had a couple of experiences where I've had to redownload a game due to some complication. Having a disk in this situation is pretty convenient. Also with BF3 physical copies tie into origin anyway so essentially it's the same experience except you get a disk at the cost of waiting 20 minutes to play the game.

According to twitter & posted on BF3s page, the unlock for people who downloaded the game wont occur until 3am for people on the east coast...so this is where going to a midnight release gives you the jump.
 
I remember back when I played WoW - I went to the Lich King Midnight release and boy....that was some of the biggest wierdos ive ever met...and it was a long ass wait.

Dont want to go through that again so no intention of the Midnight release to get my copy.
