Do not turn off your computers!

If you turn off, hibernate, lose internet, or lose connection to Origin on your computer, all progress on your Battlefield 3 download will be stopped. There has been outrage on the EA forums over this, because apparently Origin downloads the files, decompresses, and saves them in chunks. Rather than EA making chunks approximately 200-500mb, they consist of almost the whole game. So, I repeat...don't shut it down, don't lose your internet, and don't close Origin!

Guess Steam still has the edge over them in some aspects. Perhaps Origin will change this in the future, hopefully, to compensate for those who have slower internet connection and/or not always on the computer.

Exactly. They say its not capable and it can corrupt your disk, but I've never had issues with Steam. I've got a total 4mb/s connection, so usually downloads make up 2-3mb/s of that...and my computer is set to go off. Changing that for tonight...

I downloaded through Origin in about the same time it would have taken me to install it from the disk... I had an average download speed of 25 MB/sec and peaked at 27 MB/sec. Thanks for the warning though PBJ.

I cannot believe people would turn them off and expect anything else to happen. I guess I didn't even expect to have this problem since I had it downloaded in less than an hour and I don't turn off my compute rarely anyways.

Either I'm lucky or they're all unlucky, because I turned mine off bout 85% through, started up this morning and started from there, no problem whatsoever

This shouldn't happend if Steam/Valve didin't put that rules about DLC and patches must be provided via steam whatever it called and we shouldn't be using origin if steam/valve adpoted that rules
