Stopped playing for awhile and they've broken my hud...and status seems to be borked as well. Updates break anything else I should know about?

Status has been broken, and your HUD was probably custom.. So those have a tendency to break after updates a well.

As far as anything else, the update broke a lot of players in half as they sat on their PC's gaming and eating fattening foods.. Seems that the update doesn't like obese people. Hopefully you're not fat

hypothetically, if it's just you vs the living dead and you have weapons, are you just dying slowly?

You just need to re-apply the HUD files to the appropriate folders. They broke sometime at the beginning of september.
