Well after lurking the battlelog forums I've decided to see if you guys have any input on my problem. In SP sometimes after choosing 'resume game' I'll get a black screen and a 'Battlefield has stopped working' error. After some evaluation i've decided it's not a GPU issue because I can play the multiplayer without any problems. After some tinkering i've managed to get the campaign to load up but it crashes after reaching a certain area in a level (such as opening a door).

I also get the same crash (black screen and 'battlefield has stopped working' error) when i finish a round in MP.

I've reinstalled the game, updated drivers, updated direct x, and reinstalled punkbuster.

I'll probably have to wait for a patch but Any help will be appreciated.

If you’re getting this error, don’t be too stressed, a lot of players are getting this too. While the popular solution is to wait for an upcoming patch, first try updating your DirectX to the latest version. If that doesn’t work try our fixes in Problem #3. Most of the time, those should help you out.

Remember if you managed to fix a crash or error yourself, make sure you share them in the Livefyre comments below to help others.

Problem #3 Battlefield 3 (BF3) Crash Fix – Crash to Desktop upon Launch / Startup
If you’re game randomly crashes upon launching the game, ensure or try the following:

Repair your Battlefield 3 installation. To do this, go into your Origin Client, right-click Battlefield 3, and finally click “Repair Install”. What will happen is that all the latest patches and updates will be installed along with a fresh boot of BF3.
Update your nVidia / ATI graphics drivers. Checkthese links for ATI users & nVidia users.
Turn off SLI / Crossfire
Try using only one GPU first (turn the other one off via your grpahics control panel)
Disable anti-aliasing and filtering
Disable V-sync
Disable background apps, and turn off your anti-virus software
Run through our list of general fixes (sans the Steam fixes), which will most likely resolve your problems
Doing the above are quick crash fix solutions for Battlefield 3.
 
I had a lot of issues with Origin and my Anti-Virus not playing nicely, what anti-virus do you use?
 
Avast but i've tried running the game with avast disabled and still not luck. I've just now noticed my system is only recognizing 4GB of my 6GB of RAM. maybe that's the cause of the problem.

Update: Fixing the RAM didn't help the problem. Also I seem to crash immediately after a multiplayer match ends.

Im walking out the door now so I cant get into it but try messing with your DirectX settings. Roll'em back or reinstall. Good luck.
 
I had to uninstall Avast from my computer it was not working with battlelog, not to be drastic, but I would recommend uninstalling Avast.
 
To get avast to work with battlelog you need to turn off the web shields. It seems to be a common issue that quite a few people are having. I'll just wait for a patch. At least I can play multiplayer a round at a time. Thanks for the help everyone.

Thats a little weird, I used avast and the Beta worked for me, however I did start getting issues from another pc.

Hopefully this time around I won't need to mess around with any of that stuff.
 
i tried to install punkbuster manually, that didnt fix my random crashes. I guess waiting for patch to come out :( 15 minutes play time so far since I got the game and not even promoted to lvl 2 lolz.
 
The only frustrating thing is that DICE hasn't mentioned that they are working on a PC fix. They've ignored every tweet that isn't about consoles. It's just not that hard to believe that they haven't even gotten around to looking at the PC version.
 
What were the tweaks you made to get it more stable? Ive tried everything ive read on here and its still running like a sack of...
Or even better has anyone figured out a way of getting ?40's worth of waste of time to work?
Im currently reinstalling it from scratch to see if that helps, its the only thing i haven't tried!

[EDIT] Probably a stupid question, but how do i go about updating DirectX? I was always under the assumption it came built in with graphics drivers? - Ive tried looking for a stand alone download but couldnt, checked windows update but nothing in there, even under optional so im a bit confused :s

Just read on a different forum that it might have something to do with running on board soundcards along with intergrated rubbish like realtek.
Currently redownloading BF3, will disable realtek in bios when its done and let you know if it works, im not that hopeful though tbh =/
 
Something to try...
I had the same issues with BF3 crashing. I installed W7 SP1 and havent had a crash since.
maybe try that if its not already installed.

Aye, i installed it a few weeks ago.
I suppose theres no harm in trying it again. Only i have ANOTHER problem on top of that which is, i uninstalled then redownloaded BF3 whilst i was at work, but when i got home it was saying it wasnt installed properly. Ran the repair tool, which came back and said everything was fine and up to date, try to play it again and i get the same error! Uninstalled again and am currently redownloading =/
Heres hoping!
 
Okay so i can play through a whole online game (if i can open it without it crashing, which is one in roughly 10 attempts!) so i guess that kinda rules out hardware issues.
Really loosing my patience though, i really want to play the campaign!!!
