Help me with graphical settings?

The game runs really smooth and crisp so far, but I noticed that the Auto setting has put basically everything off or on low, with the exception of Textures, which it has put on High.

Can I turn some more pretty on without collapsing my PC?

Yes. I'd say experiment with it, see what settings looks best for you without crashing your PC. If you push it too far, it won't fry on ya and melt down. Just crash, or maybe BSOD on you. When that happens, you know that setting was too high.

You should get some pretty massive fps drop before you crash. Blur and AA just leave off.

I turned everything high with my 460, and left AA off and motion blur off. Since, I've added some AA in, and it still works fine. Just experiment.

Running everything on high with some AA as well on my dual 5870's. keep me above 70-80fps at all times. Ultra bring me down to 40-50pfs but then it start lagging during smoke etc. With a 9800 you wont be able to run at more than low to medium settings. Using Auto, BF3 runs your card at settings that max your FPS so I would stick with that for now.

I was running on medium with a GTX260, but the game felt overall smoother and more responsive on low.

To max your FPS, then you want to lower your graphic settings. That means, if yuo got a GTX 590, you would still run it at low settings. Like I said before, experiment to find your own balance of eye candy goodness vs FPS.

Thanks for the help guys. I played a bunch on Medium, but I did notice a few moments of frame drop. I think I'm going to stay on auto. Frame loss really bugs me. I need those frames when I'm owning shotgun style.

I have to turn everything down to Low with no AA to maintain 60 fps, but even then it's still easy on the eyes.

Really hoped I could do High or Medium, at least, but I love 60 fps too much.

Specs FYI: Phenom II 1090T x6, ASUS 6850 1gb ddr, 16gb ddr3 ram, all stock.
