Wait for 7000 series, then get 6990?

I was thinking I'd wait for the ATI Radeon 7000 series to come out so I can pick up the 6990 at a discount price since its supposed to be out in a few months anyway. Is this a good idea?

Or would the 6990 not be a big enough difference over my 6870 to get it? In that case I would get the 7000 series instead.

I'd say wait. Who knows, the 7000 series might be quite good.....or falls flat on its face.

Know one will know what is worth buying in trems of ATI cards until 7000's is released. I would image the 7000 using common sense would be better then 6000. never know

If current progression is any indication, the 7970 will be able to match or get pretty close to the 6990, but use less power

so yea, i would put the 7970 at about 80 to 100 percent of a 6990

if anyone could guess a price that'd be awesomme. So looking forward to this card. I have the 5970 & i <3 it. Best card ever can run everything on max without lag. The drivers are a little bit "crap" to update but for the rest loveeeee it ;D

I wanna know how the 7770 will perform lol. I mean, it has actually make an improvement over the 5770/6770 now. It can't build off the 5770 again, at least I hope not.

That's a most likely situation, all the people with the 6990 will probably switch to 7000 and they would stop making/producing as much as anything down the 7000's. And with all the used ones, you will never know who overclocked the ********** out of it. Though, it would be much much cheaper then a new 6990, but Idk if it would be worth the risk.
