I seriously was completely unaware that our own Dr.Compton was leaving for the military soon until I saw the thread tonight about Realism. I kinda feel ashamed, because Compton is a great guy and "Realism" will forever go hand-in-hand with "Compton" in my mind.

So...in honor of Compton and his admirable decision to join the Army, I would like to share some of my favorite Compton/Realism moments...



My absolutely most favorite Realism moment... this was back before we had the campaign and before I really knew Compton at all. Ides of March and I were at his place and jumped on to play Realism. It was on Donner (sigh...of course), and Compton was on our team. We had just rushed/taken the field and Ides took some damage. He was at around 30 HP or so, which is a horrible place to be, because pretty much anything will kill you, but you can't Medic! up yet. Sure enough, Compton says, "Oh, come here, I can fix that for you." So the entire group stops, takes defensive positions at the main entrances to the field, and Compton creeps up to Ides, finds a good spot on his leg, and Ides was like, "Wait, are you going to shoot me?!" Compton then actually said, "Trust me, I'm a doctor." He shoots Ides in the foot and takes him down to 1 HP. Then he says, "There, that'll do it." The look Ides gave me was PRICELESS, but he was able to heal up then, thanks to our resident doc!


Next an embarrassing story about Compton. He was my #2 guy when I was CINC and one week I was going to be late/maybe gone, so he was in charge. I had full faith in him leading and he knew the gameplan and all of that. He told me he wasn't sure he could do it, but I told him I knew he could. Well, I made it to Realism late that night and Compton was FREAKING out. I had Steam messages waiting for me, "Dude, get in here, I can't do this! I told you I suck at leading!" etc. etc. Dude seemed borderline on having a breakdown or something. I think had ST0RMY, Brain, Spray, IO, etc. not all been there, his head would have exploded.


The last night of that campaign we played on Flurry. You've all heard this one before, but it's another of my favorites. It's the only time an MG will ever win MVP while never having hit a single person. I was stuck on Ides' laptop that night so my Vent speak button was also my crouch button. Being in a tree, I had to crouch to see, so I was open-mic one round. First of all, people got to hear some interesting stuff that comes as a result of YSD in the middle of a battle with an open mic (hehe), but mainly it was Ides and myself, pretty much nonstop talking the most ridiculous directions to Compton, "Left....hold. There, shoot. Right...back...hold...fire..." etc. etc. etc. The dude can't see ANYTHING back behind us, but he's shepherding all of the Allies right into our sights. Ides and I pulled down a combined 11 kills that round, all because of Compton, cause he decided, "Ya know what...instead fighting this, no matter how ridiculous it all is, I will go ahead and follow these directions and just see where it takes us."



Now, I know I have shared all of these before, but since we're talking about Compton and Realism, and they all still make me lol, here are some of my favorite Compton Realism quotes:

Don't remember where/when I met Compton, but I remember his time with Tonux quite well. That was a good like six month stretch with Comptonux or Tonuxton depending on who was doing the majority of the talking that night. Gonna miss your random yet impressive MG set ups Compton, if anybody ever need a spot for the MG, and if you didn't have it, you'd put it in the craziest spot ever and 8/10 times it would work wonders. Good luck to you and I hope we see you back in Realism one day.

One of my most favorite moments in relation to DoD with Compton was earlier in October when there was a day we played on Anzio together when no one was around.

We went up to the church tower and just talked in game to each other as if we were literally just hanging out together in person. In the end though, we ended up running around on the map hunting down every flower pot there was so I could shoot it. He would try to keep the flower pots away from me by kicking them around, but to no avail, I eventually succeeded in annihilating the flower pot population.

I have so many funny moments with him already in such a short amount of time and I told myself I probably wouldn't even care that much when he would be leaving for basic training, but I find myself slightly emotional and sentimental during the days before he leaves now.

I have too many quotes floating around in my head of us and our silly conversations in game and out of game.

Point is, Compton is amazing and I'm proud of him and I will let all of you know when I get the first letter from him! Hahahaha.

Oh and the first time I met him was when I came down to Room 5 DoD and I told him not to mess with me, cause I'm hardcore. But then he saw the video of me getting all my hair shaved off- and I stopped hardcore. Hahaha.
