It actually doesn't do anything for gaming, and for most people it's not worth the extra money.

Just a few extra features, which take up more HDD space. Pointless if you don't use them.

Actually i dont think their is any benifit to gaming on a different Operating system with just a couple more features for buisness purposes. Actually im pretty sure their is no difference in the operating systems except just those couple of extra features which you would use for buisness like i sed. But the only difference on operating systems i believe is 32-bit and 64-bit OS.

There is one potential benefit, being that with Home Premium you don't get XP Compatibility Mode, which can help in some older games since Vista and 7 use a different framework than XP. That's about it, though.

You still get the XP compatibility mode (along with every other Microsoft OS back to 95) with every 7 version.
Windows XP Mode is software that comes preloaded with 7 Professional and Ultimate, and I think with the new service pack you can use it with any version of Windows 7 now. Most programs don't need it anyways, unless it's a really old version of Microsoft Office or something.
Trying not to rehash anything said above, Win 7 Pro is suited to the Enterprise (I work with a network of about 1200) , whereas the Home premium is definitely well suited to...well eerrr...the home.
XP mode comes into play when you are dealing with older applications that tend to hang around in companies when you have older technologies, and either no one got round to upgrading them, or no one wants to pay to upgrade them. You shouldn't have any issues running Home, or ultimate as your personal PC, as long as you don't anticipate joining a domain. In short, i did just rehash everything said above.
