Mortars are annoying.

My only problem with mortars is that the angle at which they can destroy devices such as radio beacons and breach buildings is so terribad, as well as destroying the walls of a building after 2-3 mortars. I can't snipe in peace, getting outsniped by a mortar that's set up right at RU deployment behind buildings.

this is exactly why i love mortars....so (insert bad language) snipers cant sit and camp. other than that i dont really like them to much

They are annoying. I do like the challenge of getting to them and knifing them. Some sort of spawn limitation would be nice maybe.

I have no problems with mortars. They are easy to avoid (keep moving, never stay in one area for extended periods of time) and they have relatively low splash damage.

I dont see what the issue is. Just like in real combat, when you encounter something new you have to overcome it....Hence what was said earlier, good counter mortar is the quickest way to silence a mortar....

^This.

I get pretty frustrated with them but that's mostly because my team either just isn't using mortars to counter it or we just don't have ANY with mortars. Once I unlock mine though I'll definitely be using it on Seine solely to take out enemy mortars.

It also is worth to mention.....the largest cause of death and injuries in warfare throughout human history...is not bullets or the sword.... it is indirect fire (artillery and mortars)....

so if you think its not fair you got killed by a mortar....don't join the real army....you will think its not fair everyday :)

its part of the battlefield...which means its part of battlefield 3.....

In Iraq, the US had the most advanced counter mortar/indirect fire system in the world. A radar system would detect an incoming round, and redirect our indirect fires right onto the source, within seconds. The insrugents, with a 2nd grade education, were amazing....they would setup multiple mortar tubes targeted into our FOB, then they would pack the tubes full of ice and put the round on top. After about an hour the ice would all melt (with the guys who setup the tube long gone) and the round would hit the firing pin....launching the round into the FOB....with counter mortar being pointless....
