Record yourself playing!

hey everyone, I was wondering how you record yourself playing DoDs.
It would be cool to record myself and show others how awesome (or horrible) I am

Do you mean a demo? Because if you do, just open up console and type record <name>. Then when you're finished type stopdemo in console.

is a demo just filming someone and stopping it and watching it later?
If so, thanks, and how do u find and watch the demos?

actually to stop a demo that you are [Recording] then you will type "stop" in console.

If you are [Viewing] a demo that you recorded then you will type "stopdemo" in console.


For example, I want to record myself, I type in console: "record Mobius". Then it will begin recording. When I decide to stop recording my awesomeness type "stop" in console. At that point it will create a 'Mobius.dem file in your dod folder.

When you wish to view that recording make sure that you disconnect out of the server before you do so, but don't exit DoD. In console you have to type out the exact name of the demo: "playdemo Mobius".

When you are satisfied with the awesomeness type "stopdemo".

well if you have fraps, you could skip the whole demo thing and go straight to video format, however, in quality fairness, i have found...

record the demo, then fraps it while watching it...

I dunno why but it turns out nice for me.

I use SUPER Version 2007.bld.23

Google it and you should find this video converter, I do not know if it converts .dem files thou, havent tested it. It does however convert all other video formats, even .flv files, so i dont know why it wouldnt.

you actually just type stop, stopdemo is for when you're watching a demo.


You can watch the demos in DOD as people have said, but I believe you can get converter programs though I don't know of any good ones. Failing that you could buy fraps, it records normal avi or mpeg videos of you playing.
