Hello Everyone,

I am thinking about getting a macbook pro... 15 inch. any input on how it runs games. I play the call of dutys, DOD, and TF2. would i be able to keep up pretty well on a mac pro? any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

here are the general specs.

2.2GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
500GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB GDDR5
Built-in battery (7 hours)2
 
Its seems ok. But in my opinion Macs are just not designed for gaming.

Runnin I play on a mac book pro!

If the game is supported on mac, then from my experience you have no problems with it and mac book pros are more than powerful enough to run the games listed.

I even play games that do not support mac (league of legends, starcraft 2). This takes some time to find and install and keep up to date.

I love my mac book pro even though i do have issues every now and then.
I use it for school and ever since my pc blew up for gaming also.

I would say go for it.
Just realize that ALOT of games do no support mac what so ever.

I am still admiring this. I have a mac and a PC, and I love my mac. I believe you would be able to run all those games on the Mac, it just wouldn't be the best gaming experience possible.. Im not saying that you should have posted there, but you could (if you wanted) post in the Tech Discussion and see what the highly experience tech dudes have to say.

since you asked for insight, Macbooks are overpriced in terms of hardware. Yes you get improved user-friendliness, but if you can use a PC, you can get more power for your buck.

A good portion of steam games are compatible with macs, but they seem riddled with bugs based on the patches and complaints from mac-users.

If you want a computer for gaming, PC's do it best.

I agree with Blue completely. However, an important question is this: Are you on a PC right now? If so, are you keeping it after you get the mac book (if you get it)? Because as many have stated, it is not the best for gaming. I do believe however that it is a good computer otherwise. The way it operates, the lack of viruses available for it, etc make it a great computer. I would recommend it ESPECIALLY if you have and are keeping the PC.
 
Ok i'm gonna give you my very very VERY anti-mac motto. The Only Good Mac, Is A Smashed Mac. All comments stated above are true and i agree with them. PC's where its at. Just don't get an Alienware -_- WAAAAAAAAY too over priced for something i could build customly for 1/12 of the price

alienware is not overpriced compared to a macbook pro. Alienware laptops are not outrageously priced like they used to be.

Runnin_Wild08 here's a few words of advice.
Macs are made for say school work & the like.
PC's on the other hand are built for gaming.

Dbad.
 
If you have to get a mac, it should do fine. I ran Windows dualboot on mine and got 120fps with all settings low & -dxlevel81 (DoD:s)

There are other cheaper and better laptops out there for the same price or cheaper, think about it.
 
Macs are overpriced and the only reason I would condone the purchase of one is if you edit videos or junk like that as part of your profession. If you want a laptop and youre willing to pay Mac prices-- get an Alienware. For the price their laptops are reasonable and theyre made for gaming but will handle pretty much anything.

P.S. I hate anything Apple.
 
after talking with my brother i have decided on a PC. Gonna look into Alien or Asus. Probably go with alien tho. thanks ya'll
 
You will be making a mistake going with Alienware, but it's your mistake to make.
 
I would not suggest laptops for gaming. I used to do this and nothing about it is good. If your gonna spend a good amount of money spend it on a nice desktop.

Because you can get setups equally as geared towards gaming without paying the extra money for the brand name. In my opinion, the benefits you get with Alienware really don't equate to the price tag.
 
i need a laptop for school. and i figure i should get one that has the capability to run the few games i play... if not alienware then asus? dell xps?
