So i'm going to be writing a complete review of the game in a few days... maybe weeks. I'm really thoroughly impressed. The game has kept my attention for over 12+ hours today and I literally had to tear myself away to check some web stuff, and get to bed for work in the morning, and that is the first time that has happened in 5 years or more!
I'm playing as a High Elf Mage with Conjuration and Destruction being my focuses.
I'm using conjuration to summon familiars/atronarchs with Raise Dead being my true focus, having the point in Necromancy. I'm using a familiar and magic to kill 1 enemy, followed by raising that enemy to fight for me, then while they tank, summoning a bound battle axe or sword to capture their soul, or cast boosted damage lightening bolts to kill tough enemies. I'm only using the basic tank while I DPS method, but it seems a bit more complex in this game, and honestly, much more fulfilling. I get the feel from this that I have from WoW, but much more involved. It's a far more in-depth RPG than people give it credit for, even being as highly praised as it is.
The crafting is exquisite also. I've spent quite a bit of time using Alchemy to create poisons, and potions, which i've been using to keep myself way above the enemy. I've augmented my magic to having over 400-500% magic regen at all times. The crafting is a blast, with recipes adding themselves once you stumble across them, and items listing their inherent effects as you discover them, combining them with another herb or ingredient of like effect.
I've also found hunting animals for their skins to be hugely profitable. I'm gaining 50 gold per light leather armor, and being able to make 8-12 every time I stop in town after a normal quest.
Thus far i've spent roughly 12 hours on one character, and 8 on another, and i've reached level 12 on my main mage, and 8 on the other. It's looking like roughly an hour per level, being consistent throughout. I'm doing the main quest, while stopping to delve into every dungeon I run across, and spending plenty of time exploring as well.
I can't recommend this game enough. If you have any interest in Norse culture, RPG games, Sword and Sorcery combat, or even crafting, buy it and don't look back. My wife is going to be playing tomorrow, I'll let you all know how that goes.
Look for my full review, and feel free to request specific things to be answered!
