Already did that. Someone posted that in another Skyrim thread (or this one?), and discussed it with him. Turned AA off, Verify Integrity 5x so far, done everything short of deleting the entire game and reinstalling (and losing my process so far of +40 hrs)

Another forum said to turn your sound playback device to 24bit instead of 16. It worked for some but not me. Mine only crashes every few hours and I quicksave a lot anyways, so it doesn't bother me.

Copy the Skyrim folder (or at least your saves!) and you should be just fine to reinstall.

Someone else mentioned they like the bards singing in the Inn, just wanted to chime in and agree.
I finished the missions for the College of Winterhold and I must say I thought it was rather short. I feel like I hardly spent any time there and BAM...well I won't spoil it but if you did the missions I think you know what I mean.
I think I'm level 29, somewhere between 30-40 hours in, about to do a main story mission in Solitude (figure I can say that without spoiling it for people who aren't that far) and I am loving the game. Have probably about 10-15 quests I could que up lol.

Yes. But I don't give it out to everyone. Only a select few of gaming friends have it.
Did another 3 hrs or so, experienced only 2 crashes. I'm not sweating the crashes, as Shadow said, I'm also quick saving all the time so I don't lose any progress from a game crash.
43 hours in, and so many Miscellaneous Quests. It'll take an entire day to just try to complete them (and to avoid picking up more)

Out of curiosity, what house did everyone choose as their main lair? I saved for hours to get the Solitude house... on your first visit to solitude, if you aren't blown away enough by the city to buy a house there then 
. Its 25k gold though (but it puts you into the most aesthetically pleasing city, the center for many storyline quests [trying to avoid spoilers], and the house you buy isn't a house at all... its a manor

Sorry to break it to ya, but that's what's causing the crashes.
I was running Xfire before and it crashed every 5 minutes or so, but mostly it was random and didn't matter where I was.
Now, I've been playing for 8 hours straight (Yes I know, not enough) and not a single crash. For 3 nights straight.
Putting a crutch in your explanation.
Do I have Xfire? Yes
Do I use Xfire while playing Skyrim? No. I have it installed, doesn't mean it's running. And before you say it automatically runs itself, no, it's not. I changed the options so it boots up when I tell it to run, not when the PC boots up. :thumbdown:

I may have used bad wording but I really was trying to help.
And I still am, as a matter of fact, and from browsing this thread I have bookmarked from Bethesda's forums about random CTDs, two possible solutions pop up (don't know if you've tried these already);
- Run it straight from Steam's folder and the TESV.exe (don't know if this works after the patch)
- Use the Large-Address Aware patch so you can fully use your RAM (http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013)

I tried the 4GB program the other day and it made the problem worse for me.
Then I downloaded an INI tweaker program, set the memory settings to the default values, and no crashes for a few days now.

I've only played this game for about 2 hours so far, even though I've had it since it came out. I like it so far, but I am wondering, what pros does magic offer? Because Im finding it pretty complicated to get started with it

AoE damage imho. Spamming firebolts (or the whatever the expert level explosive fireball things are) = win. And that's with the difficulty all the way up.
That being said, I much prefer one handed and archery.
