Game freeze every 5 seconds

Every 5-10 seconds Arma 2 will freeze up for a second or less. I think its because some background application is toggling on/off each time, but I can't be sure. I have never had this problem with arma 2 before, and I can run it and Operation Arrowhead on MAX settings. This problem started today.

try downloading and running the free program CCleaner [its spelled just like that] - DO NOT use the registry cleaner because the "cure" it comes up with is deleting registries.

ONLY DELETE REGISTRIES YOU HAVE RESEARCHED TO KNOW THEY ARE NO LONGER USED OR ARE SAFE TO DELETE.

anywho - this program should clear up your caches and such, thus freeing up some system "space" for the game to run. Arma II is a bit of a process hog so it may take some tweeking.

I've had similar problems with different steam games that freezed up a lot. The solution that worked for me was to go to your steam games library, right click the game and hit properties, local files, and choose verify integrity of game cache... and then defragment cache files.

This cleared up my constant freezing in PVKII, hopefully it will help yours, its worth a try.
