Apple Users Still Complaining About Battery Issues After iOS 5.0.1 Update

It's back to square one for Apple on iOS 5 battery woes; first generation nanos being replaced due to fire hazard
It looks as though Apple is in for some more brainstorming sessions as the iOS 5.0.1 update that was released to the public on Thursday has failed to stop the battery drain for many users. While some have claimed that the update addressed their problems, others say that the battery issues linger or have gotten even worse after applying the update.
For its part, Apple has acknowledged that it is aware of continued battery problems and released the following short statement to AllThingsD:
The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.
So we should expect to see another update, perhaps 5.0.2, in the coming weeks from Apple. Hopefully Apple gets it right this time.
In other battery news, Apple has announced a replacement program for first generation iPod nanos. The company warns that the media players could pose a fire risk:
Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages.
Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.
Note: This battery issue is specific to the iPod nano (1st gen) and does not affect any other iPod.
If you own a first generation nano, you can visit Apple's support page to secure a free replacement.
