how to improve in fps games(a guide by xitreon)

The ultimate tip: Don't be afraid to use different weapons. By now most people have figured out how to play the game. Most of which have found some weapons they are comfortable with and get a decent amount of kills with. For those that want to becomes better, I offer this advice: Don't be afraid to drift from your favorite weapons. Who knows, you might find something better than what you use currently. I know I did when I started using the saiga12k. I realized its much stronger per shot than the USAS is, and with extended mags, its only 2 shots less than the USAS is with extended mags as well. As a plus, its not much slower than the USAS either, so its definitely better in my honest opinion.
agreed, ever since they took away burst fire mode on the m416 (fave gun), i've been playing around with other guns

I like this thread. I want to put a few pointers in.
Play For Fun
You think people buy games for simple enjoyment, but the market has changed from the days of playing Wizardry on my Apple IIe.
A suggestion: If you're consistently 1 and 20 k/d, then you're probably not having a good time. Play something you enjoy, not something that EA, Activision, or any other company tries to sell you. There are a ton of shooters out there, find one that works for you.
Play With Friends
FPS' are only as good as the people you play them with. You're in Edge Gamers, so that's a start. Invite your friends to your games, join theirs and interact. Laugh about a ridiculous kill, complain about how a rifle seems OP or gloat about how you took out one of your buddies. I've been a part of it for 15 years, and it only gets better with every frag.
Knowledge Helps
People are really good at shooters because they know what to anticipate. Go into an empty server and check out the map layout of different levels. Look for the open areas , choke points, and good spots to hide. Go to youtube and look up strategies for beginners. Even if you're not good at aiming, you'll at least have an understanding of where things are on maps, which leads me to my next point.
Be Consistent
Most players can't pick up a controller or mouse and be brilliant, they work at it. If you're new to fps, be prepared for frustration. If you're coming in late to a fps game (like Counterstrike), expect a higher learning curve. If you're willing to put time in to a game, like anything else you put effort towards, you will get better at it.
Don't forget, none of this matters if you're not having fun while doing it. Enjoy.

Get In Vent
Nothing makes a poor player better than having a squad to play around that is actually talking to each other. By the time you've typed or read "chopper incoming on the right" in chat you've lost the chance to do anything about it, but hearing it from your gunner or team gives you the chance to do something about it (i.e., stay alive)

ok so i notice that a lot of people are getting ganked over and over without getting much kills themselves , this makes them tense and fustrated.. well im here to help change that, allthough im not a super player myself
just try out the tips here and i promise you, you will improve at least a bit
you will improve from this:cursing::facewall:: to this
(sorry if i overuse smilies in this post)
use a weapon you're comfortable with
ok its really simple, try out diffrent types of weapons and use the
one you can handle best. there's no reason to use a sniper rifle
if you're good with assult rifles
Play co-op
if you play co-op you can get a feel for most of the weapons+ you can unlock aditional weapons
for multiplayer mode....
Camp smart
this is a mistake most people do.. camping at obvious spots.
try finding camp spots where noone expects their opponents to be at.
but make sure you dont stay at the same place for too long or you WILL
be eating a rpg rocket for supper
Use your radar
when your opponent fires they will be visible on your radar for a short ammount of time. use this to your advantage
practice makes perfect
title says it all, no one can be good at something without practicie
Learn from your mistakes
sometimes your movement, camping etc may be predictable
try to do stuff diffrently, forexample using diffrent movement routes,
if they can detect a pattern you're moving in then you are much more vulnerable
Sensitivity
Well to be honest im a little unsure on this one since increasing
your mouse sensitivity could make your aiming unsteady
dont be affraid to ask
most players who are good are willing to help, so id say stick
to them and ask them if you need help. just ignore people who
calls you a noob or something like that, they aren't worth your time
knife when youre close
allways knife wether you end up in close combat or when you manage to
sneak up on your enemy, in most games the knife is a one hit kill
dont reload during combat
how many times haven't you run out of ammo when you're in battle with
your enemies? when this happens, do NOT reload, this will get you killed.
allways switch to your side arm
dont run into crossfire
doing this may get you killed
keep calm at all times
if you end up in a difficult situation stay calmed and focused and you may get out of it alive. getting stressed and unfocused will make you preform badly
move when you're shooting
try to move as much as possible when you shoot, then you will be much harder to kill.. if you stand still you are pretty much a sitting duck
flanking
if your team is under heavy fire try flanking them by either attacking from the side or even better from behind, make sure you dont get spotted though
be nice
NEVER verbally attack people, even if they tk/gank/spawnkill/camp.
this will only make people dislike you and make you look totally redicolous.
dont make a fool of your self, instead keep a calm tone, try to have fun and
make friends while doing so.. if you're just outright cruel and verbally unfriendly
this WILL give you a bad reputation
play with people thats better than you
this may sound wierd to some but if you play with people thats
better than you, you will learn much more than you would if you played
with people who is even worse then you are
Hessitation can get you killed
allright so the title says it all.. if you see an enemy you must NEVER hessitate to
fire a few rounds, to save time i allways try to keep the scope up to save time when im
moving around corners, also try to develop your reflexes you'l be supprized how much it helps
Aiming
this is really simple, aiming for heads will allways do more damage than shooting at an enemys legs. this ive ranked the best hitspots from best to worst
1) head
2)throat
3)chest
4) stomach
5)legs
ALLWAYS try to aim for the upper 3 as the bottom 3 is gonna get you killed for sure
as the above section says its smart to move around corners with your scope up to save time
bursting
At long range its hard to use autofire due to the recoil.
well if you fire in bursts of 2 or 3 rounds your accuracy will be much better
NEVER EVER CHEAT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
this is by far the most important one, if you cheat,hack,glitch or lagswitch
you WILL become unpopular amongst other players, most servers will ban you before you can even join. you will NEVER become good at fps games if you cheat since its not really you playing. theres nothing honorable in a cheaters achievements, its only an illution. so NEVER use it. Cause it WILL get you in deep trouble
watch videos
belive it or not, you can actually learn quite a bit from watching videos on youtube.
you may find some killer spots for sniping or camping or maybe some usefull movement tecniques

also Knowing the Map will help you improve in better ways of getting kills knowing were the enemy is and also flanking maneuvers when in need of desperate measures to win the round.

Mouse - Motion sensitivity its allow you to turn quickly "Using 65% motion sensitivity & 4000 dpi
Aiming - Im using QBZ-95B & MP7 because its goes like this
