Yesterday was normal..for the most part. Until I heard a few regulars, as well as members of eGO, start saying the phrase "How's your mom?", or something of the sort, to random people..now, this may seem like a practical kicker, but personally..it made me grave-sick. Why?

What if someones mom wasn't exactly doing so well? or worst of all - Dead?

Sure I'm one to kick a few jokes around as well..but not the type of jokes that could be thought of as offensive. After hearing it..ohh..6-10 times, I just had enough of it and left. I even conversed with a few admins that were on about it, but needless to say..keep some jokes to yourself, please?

I'd rather not see something that is really fun, has a great structure and all that just drop like a rock in an instant.

And with that: Does it matter if someone is male or female? Young or Old? Let me see...NO. You all know who you are when I say enough of the sexism, racism..whatever! Act your age. Quit acting like something different just to get attention.

And in case any of you are wondering: No, I am not exempting myself from any of this.

I agree with you and we monitor that sort of language on dods. So if it wont stop play Avalanche on dods and enjoy mature players. Our female players are help in high esteem by most dods players.

IVe already posted this before. You will find multiple people trying to defend themselves about these kinds of jokes. I AM for one against the jokes. They are not jokes and are disrespectful. Especially when ones mom has gone through cancer and i only found out that my mom had 6 months left to live. Its rude. Not funny. And you never know who is listening.

your post takes me by surprise. Mostly because I come directly effected by the words you mention. Senior members of eGO will remember that my own mother died of breast cancer in 2004. Now - in travels amongst the interwebs, no one is going to know my mother died. so how can i take immediate offense. But - If I - I being the one it effects - ask the person to stop and they eg me on and say more degrading things then we step in.

But "yo-momma" jokes and "Hey your mom_____" jokes have been around for years.

I say its (like all admining) a case by case basis that has to be taken seriously.

I don't see whats disrespectful about a "Your mum" joke. I can understand being offended if people made such jokes towards you if you're mum has had an accident or whatever, but whats the problem if they're making such jokes to each other?

Complaining about that is just trying to take away fun. We try to be mature, but not boring. Fact is, most jokes (most jokes that are funny, anyway) make fun of a certain kind of person, and taking the jokes as what they are, jokes, is being a mature person.

Note: I don't make your mum jokes to people on the internet, but I don't see whats wrong if other people do.

Well ive already talked to multiple DL's and council members about this situation. We need to at least think before we make the joke. Also if someone tells you guys to stop the jokes, LISTEN. They obviously dont like the jokes and they have all the right to be playing on the servers or be in vent just like you guys do. NO ONE here is better then anyone else.

Its a totally different situation and it takes a real toll on me since my dad had to send me to therapy because I attempted suicide because of me constantly being put down from these jokes. They are no laughing matter and are serious. Just make sure when someone asks you to stop. PLEASE just stop for the time that they are their. BEcuase you guys dont understand how bad some people actually got it.

We cannot and will not be outright banning jokes in any form. With that said, we're asking all of our community members to please be respectful and "tone down" the usage of these jokes.

If someone asks you to stop, please stop. If an issue is to arise, we're asking our admins to use common sense to deal with the issue at hand and if they cannot resolve the issue, please contact a member of leadership.
