and bought the deluxe version instead. Origin gave me a new pre-order fee serial key. Is that like the beta key or something? or thats just product key and should i re-enter that into my SWTOR account?

I'm seriously thinking about cancelling mine. Aside from the similarities SWTOR has to many other MMO's, I'm sick of the constant errors and downtime their website has. As of now, I cannot even change my password, which was just made mandatory for all members. If they can't handle thousands of client traffic, they are screwed.

If this is a sign of things to come, count me out...

Seriously. If your considering canceling your pre-order because they take their site down for routine maintenance that has been going on for a while, that's just sad.

FYI most MMO launches aren't as big as this. This could be one of the biggest MMO launches in recent history, due to the fact it is such a huge IP coming from a popular game developer, known for it's superb games.

*I looks back at other Beta games and other MMO problems at launch... and recall these being fixed. Oh ya its Beta and finding exactly what they are looking for. Betas not a "sign of things to come" its things that need to be fixed.

Testing this late in the game is almost purely stress-testing.

This means that they're pushing their servers to their absolute limits to get metrics on the bandwidth and processing requirements in order to expand reasonably based on player counts, rather than throwing too much power at the problem.

They also want to find out what parts of the game are causing more stress than they should be. Which means it's going to break, and they're going to be doing a ton of alterations on the fly.
