Alienware Tournament

Just curious,
Why are we playing so many games, I was looking at the tournament overview on the site, and we have double the amount of games played as every other team, just wondering why that is? seems like we are playing 2+ a week, while these other teams are playing 1 a week.

I feel the same way about this.

The number of matches is, frankly, overwhelming, and I find it more and more difficult to enjoy time with other members doing things that aren't playing matches.

May I remind everyone that is involved with this that we are not a competitive clan. We are a gaming organization that is built around the efforts of our community, not our successes in a gaming league. Winning a few matches is nice, but when it gets to the point that we're playing a match every other night and sometimes every night, it becomes too much.

I would like to politely request that the number of matches scheduled be reduced to 2 a week, 1 of those being the automatically selected match, and 1 being a challenge. It was fun at the beginning, but now I feel that it is too much of a burden on my life, and in some ways, this sort of "commitment" is taking the fun out of the game.

It probably wouldn't be an issue if we had more that could play/practice. I'm still battling with real life issues and haven't been able to attend much but it should be leveling out for me soon and I'm gonna try to make the practice tonight if possible. I'm sure I'm rusty.

Also, is there a minimum number of games you need to play? Just one a week? I see one team in the top 10 that only has 3 played and won. That seems a bit low.

You guys know better than I do as to how many polished players are around to fill up games.

Hope to kill some of youz guyz soon.

At the beginning of the season, we had more than enough players in rotation to do this. However, that number of committed players has dropped dramatically. Because of this we need to re-think how often we play matches now. The same thing goes for practices. As it stands, it is simply too much for those of us that have commitments outside of edge gamers.

We will discuss this topic further in a BF3 scrim meeting between captains and leadership.

I have brought the number of games down from 4-5 per week to 3 now and plan to bring it down to just 2 games from next week. The only reason we had so many games was the amount of people that we had earlier on. We had 3 squads so needed to have enough games to give everyone a chance to play. But now as pistol said we only have a max of 10 dedicated people who show up to games therefore the number will be reduced. I will reduce the # of players as well again tonight as frankly we dont even need two squads from what I have seen over the last week.

I agree with you pistol that games need to be reduced which we will be doing from next week. In regards to commitment, doesnt really matter if we are competitive or not, commitment is key. We frankly have the manpower to compete with the best but just lack the commitment to show up to strat meetings or practices. Gaming leagues are not born ready, they evolve from casual gamers who start working together to form a strong team. eGO has more than enough dedicated members to form multiple strong teams but the only thing lacking right now is commitment. This tournament is supposed to be fun for sure but is also a great advert for eGO therefore we need to put up our best performance and be serious about it. This tournament is also a precursor for bigger and better things to come. So my recommendation to everyone who is playing in this tournament is to get serious and show some commitment, players who do both will be first dibs on many other things to come.

This last week is not necessarily a good indication of how many dedicated players we have since some of us are busy during the holidays. (Myself included :P)

Time for me to poke my head in here for the first time since this got going. I'd like to have this meeting soon and I would like to be apart of it. Captains please contact me on the forums or on vent so we can figure out a time.

this is from my own personal experience with the way this has been run. ive been to a ton of practices and sat back and watched people who play in every match play while i get passed up again and again. i was promised a deff. spot in a match over 4 weeks ago and have been passed up 3 time since. not fair, and im sure im not the only one. so when u sit there asking why no one shows to be targets for the captains and favorites who only get to play in matches. that is why, and some people might not agree with this, well they would be the ones who get to play. was fair in the begining and we had tons of support and F U N, since then it has changed.

i have tried hard to make these matches and practices . from paying a sitter to re- arranging hole days to try to help, and it is disappointing when things work out the way they have been. needless to say it is just a game and i am not going to let it bother me.

so i am asking to be removed from my squad and put on the back up squad or whatever you want to call it. seeing how that is all i hav become anyway. Maybe ill get lucky and play.

P.S. vert i was posting this when u most of been posting, didnt see youre post until after i posted. sry

bodayga, i msgd you twice on the forum, gave you my cell #, told you to come to the practice etc etc I was waiting for you yesterday as well, I really cant do more, I can give spots to people who are the practices as that is only fair. Come talk to me on vent or send me a text. No one is taking sides but being at the practice is absolutely crucial. Anyways off to the new forum as vert said.

Practice is tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan 3rd 2012), at 8PM CST, it will last about 1-2 hours. Everyone in squads must show up for practice to be eligible to play on wednesday. Team for Wednesday's game will be chosen tomorrow. Sorry for the late notice, been out of town, just got back today.
