Here's a shorter version in text from myself (in general about fully auto assault rifles):

Long range: Semi-auto (I changed my melee and fire-rate binds. Melee = V, fire-rate = F for easier access)
Medium range: 2-3 shot burst with 0.5-1 second delay between bursts
Short ranges: Longer bursts/full auto

The F2000, M16A3 and AEK-971 are the best guns for the Assault kit on paper. Never use heavy barrel on automatic assault rifles (if you plan on using it use it on M16A4 and KH2002), use foregrip/suppressor or laser sight.

edit: got back from class and watched the video, and im going to go try the aek because my favorite guns are the an-94 and m416 which are some of he worst ar's apparently haha

Yes that was actually quite an interesting watch, so I guess the heavy barrels are not the best attachment. I have been using it on the f2000, and I still seem to love playing with that weapon.

I LOVE MY AN94! I tend to run out of ammo with the AEK when I play conquest, with the AN94 I can last the whole game without having to call for a support for ammo. the AN94 also has easy manageable recoil which means shooting at long range with it will be easier than an AEK or an F2000. It does shoot slow but if you're not wasting your full magazine on one person because it shoots so fast then maybe it could save you in the next encounter when you have enough ammo left

PS: The AN94 is as DEAD ACCURATE as a laser guided missile but you can spray with it xD

this is how I feel about the an-94 i was shooting the aek today, and granted i dont have many attachments yet, i feel like im wasting a lot of ammo and i usually run the extra ammo perk, yea the aek shoots faster and probably is better in close quarters, i feel on the bigger conquest maps the an-94 would be a better choice, i'll probably still get the aek attachments for use on the smaller maps like sien crossing

I personally like the m416 since it has all three fire rates and it is pretty accurate. Put on a suppressor, holo sight, and forgrip and ur good to go. Great gun at mid, short range. At short range 1 3xburst to the head will do the trick.
The heavy barrel is BS, its suppose to reduce recoil not increase it.

Yea, you can conserve ammo with the an, but "eas[ily] managable recoil"? No, it has waaay more recoil than any other assault (http://symthic.com/?s=bf3). Like in bc2, AN was kinda overpowered, just put one to the chest and the other lands either in his chest too, or in his head (at range). But now I gotta shoot the guy coming around the corner in the crotch to make the second land in his head (which is fun XD but hard to make happen). +slow fire rate, doesn't quite add up. It's like the pro gun that you brag about using, cuz its not easy to use. But yea, it's got killer conservation. the "green" gun.

It was totatlly worth it but I havent used it since pre patch and I read people complaining that they nurfed it too hard with the scar
