"What is this all about?"

I will be hosting a competition between 14 of "eGO's finest"...14 men or women who think they have the mettle and fortitude to wage war, set in the 1940's, on a global scale. We will travel back in time to September of 1939, at the outbreak of the war, to see how you compare to the real-life legends of that time in terms of strategy and planning.

If you have ever heard of/played "Axis & Allies", it is like that, but on steroids. There are more countries, more spaces, more units, more realistic rules.

If you are not familiar with "Axis & Allies", let me explain...it is a turn-based war game. You produce the units you want and move them around the map, waging war.

Pretty simple, really, but you will really appreciate the depth and reality this game will have over any other Axis & Allies game you will ever find, I can assure you that.

Everything will be done online. When it's your turn you will get an update of the war. You will then tell me what moves you are making (I will help you with the basics of things--no I am not participating in-game) online and I will make them for you. We did this once (a very simplified version with a bunch of noobs) and it worked out well until things got to where the apparent outcome was easily seen and inevitable.

What we need:
PRO TIER
Germany [Axis]
Japan-Yamamoto (Pacific) [Axis]
Russia [Comintern/Allies]
United Kingdom [Allies]
United States [Allies]

MEDIUM TIER
ANZAC [Allies]
France [Allies]
Italy [Axis]
Japan-Hisaichi (Asia) [Axis]

NOOB TIER
China [Allies]
Dutch [Allies]
Finland [Axis]
Romania [Axis]
Thailand [Axis]

Sounds interesting, except I don't consider myself one of "eGO's finest" lol. And also, probably timezone hell.
Timezones and "time commitments" are of little worry. I will notify you when it is your turn and you will have 24 hours to respond to me with your moves (ASAP, please). I expect each person will get to take about a turn a week, which I consider alright because it adds to the overall war recreation feel as things gradually develop.
So basically it's a pen and paper type game? Or is it more of a board game?
Think a board game, done over the internet.
Sounds like a great concept. If this is not "Axis & Allies", is there a link to what is being played?
It is played just like Axis & Allies, just with a lot more space on the board, a lot more countries, a lot more units, some realistic "house rules" included, etc.

Pear Harbor is under attack. We will find the source of this, and when we do, whoever is responsible will have hell to pay for the deaths of un-prepared Americans.

That was but a glimpse at the supreme power of the Japanese!!! now prepare to disgrace your families with your defeat at the hands of the emperor of Japan!!!

but for real time may the poor men lost at pearl harbor rest in peace

I still need PM responses from:

Once I receive them, I can send you all the other PM you will get before we start, which (don't worry) won't have nearly as much info loaded in it.

Alright, remember how France sucked in WW2? Not anymore. I'm turning them around. Some good old 'Merican Strats given to these pansys will whip them into shape. Hooah?

Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.

Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleagues delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition, American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday, the Japanese government also launched an attack against Malaya.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked Guam.

Last night, Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.

Last night, the Japanese attacked Wake Island.

This morning, the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As commander in chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.

No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces - with the unbounding determination of our people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, Dec. 7, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.

As the Japanese General in charge of Asian operations, I protest to your allegations. I have made no such attacks on Hong Kong or Malaya. These lies will not be tolerated and we will not be bullied by you just because you are a world super power.

Other Allied nations, please see your American Ally is making up excuses to attack us. We have attacked no one (it's not our turn yet). Please see this treachery for what it is!

K guys--check your PMs. If your in-boxes are full, let me know and I will resend. We shall start soonish.
