(I wanted to make sure all of my fellow DoD:S brethren saw this--especially those of you who have recently been talking about interest in tactics and strategy)

"What is this all about?"

I will be hosting a competition between 14 of "eGO's finest"...14 men or women who think they have the mettle and fortitude to wage war, set in the 1940's, on a global scale. We will travel back in time to September of 1939, at the outbreak of the war, to see how you compare to the real-life legends of that time in terms of strategy and planning.

If you have ever heard of/played "Axis & Allies", it is like that, but on steroids. There are more countries, more spaces, more units, more realistic rules.

If you are not familiar with "Axis & Allies", let me explain...it is a turn-based war game. You produce the units you want and move them around the map, waging war.

Pretty simple, really, but you will really appreciate the depth and reality this game will have over any other Axis & Allies game you will ever find, I can assure you that.

Everything will be done online. When it's your turn you will get an update of the war. You will then tell me what moves you are making (I will help you with the basics of things--no I am not participating in-game) online and I will make them for you. We did this once (a very simplified version with a bunch of noobs) and it worked out well until things got to where the apparent outcome was easily seen and inevitable.

What we need:
PRO TIER
Germany [Axis]
Japan-Yamamoto (Pacific) [Axis]
Russia [Comintern/Allies]
United Kingdom [Allies]
United States [Allies]

MEDIUM TIER
ANZAC [Allies]
France [Allies]
Italy [Axis]
Japan-Hisaichi (Asia) [Axis]

NOOB TIER
China [Allies]
Dutch [Allies]
Finland [Axis]
Romania [Axis]
Thailand [Axis]

Sounds interesting, except I don't consider myself one of "eGO's finest" lol. And also, probably timezone hell.
Timezones and "time commitments" are of little worry. I will notify you when it is your turn and you will have 24 hours to respond to me with your moves (ASAP, please). I expect each person will get to take about a turn a week, which I consider alright because it adds to the overall war recreation feel as things gradually develop.
So basically it's a pen and paper type game? Or is it more of a board game?
Think a board game, done over the internet.
Sounds like a great concept. If this is not "Axis & Allies", is there a link to what is being played?
It is played just like Axis & Allies, just with a lot more space on the board, a lot more countries, a lot more units, some realistic "house rules" included, etc.

You're in the DoD division, so you're already part of eGO's finest.

Last time I played this with several friends, one guy knew the game way too well and destroyed Japan as the UK.

Hey boys and girls, we only need a few more people to sign up and we're good to go! If we manage to get another 14 interested above and beyond that, I am willing to start a second game. Get your friends signed up! If you're into strategy games and haven't signed up already, do it!

Here's an update for you all...

We have enough people signed up for the first game and as soon as I post this I will be working on getting info out to those 14. We are also already 4/14 into a second game, so people are welcome to continue signing up.

From here on out, however, I will ignore this thread and focus everything on just the one in General Forums, found here:
