Calling all Idlers!

Hey guys and gals, I know it's not my place to post this stuff, as it's generally posted up by leadership, but I'm going to ask all grades of players, from =(e)='s through =(eGO)='s, to help out with our two lowest servers, Flash and Anzio. http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=serverlist&game=dods check the stats on those two guys - they're still in the 200s, which is a great jump from where they were before, but we need to try and get these guys ranked higher!

If you have any extended time when you're not going to be playing, but have your computer on, try and just idle in spec on one of those two servers, seed it and get it rolling. I've seen a few members sitting for several hours on these guys, and it's been great - they start up, get close to full for a little over an hour, and then dies out, and the cycle starts over again. That hour of 32 players helps jump us up a bit and keep these servers alive.

Any amount of idling will be appreciated by all, especially the leadership. These guys are swamped with a ton of work to do, and anything we can do to help out the servers would be monumental.

Keep up the hard work guys and gals! Let's get these servers up again!

just be wary idling does not help to keep a server going. people get turned away from this so we also need a lot of people willing to play.

Im always up for filling our servers, Donner and Anzio especially. If i have time, i will probably come and help, whether by playing or idling.

It's everyone's jobs to do what they can for the division. Waiting for someone to do something you know needs to be done is not the answer, and never will be.

Flash needs it people. But we need people actually playing the server too. Yes, idling helps get people on, but if they see no one is actually playing they will just leave.

Well quite frankly, I don't think Anzio is that good of a map. But I still play on it.

It's not so much about it being your favorite map, it's more about making the payments for these servers from those who donate worth their effort and money. People still play the Flash and Anzio. Granted, they aren't as popular was Ava, Strand, Donner or Kalt, but people will still want to play on different maps at times. And since we've done away with the custom map server, these are going to be the focus.

And yes, idlers can help start a server, but we also need to start playing in them to keep the numbers up. That was something I failed to touch on, so, thanks to those who made that point. It sucks idling in a server for several hours, trust me. But when it kicks up and starts moving, it's worth the wait.

you're implying that people don't play flash because they see that others hate it, and that's ridiculous. There are many who hate avalanche, yet it thrives. Everyone here is entitled to their opinions. Everyone else has the ability to ignore them.

Just make sure to have a limit on how long you idle for. I know when I see people idling for like 8 hours straight, that puts me off joining because I know that guy will be AFK.

Its more so of i always see this towards flash on the forums, i hate ava, but yet i don't go around posting it and spreading my hate towards it. You have no idea how many times i have heard that "Flash sucks", but when i ask have they played it and they say no, i heard from so and so that it sucks. Look i know everyone has an opinion, but sometimes people need to keep it to themselves.

Have you guys ever considered a small amount of "fake clients" as well as idliers??
I know fakes are hated but used correctly they can be effective.

I have no problems idling on Flash just kick me when you want.

eGO does not use bots and never will on its servers. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

And this is one of the reasons I really really like eGO. I absolutely hate it when I see a server I want to play on and the stated player count is nowhere near what the server browser said. This is a very good decision on eGO's part.

It's a lot more then a few negative posts about Flash, The problem is that not many in the community seem to support it, Or if they do they are not willing to idle it till people start joining.
Granted no one really likes idling a server, but it's the only way to get people to join unless you have enough friends or people that will help you fill Flash when your online.

I guess the real question lies in, what do you think would help Flash to prosper like it used too?

I think that more "server perks" would help Flash prosper. By server perks, I mean something like what Anzio or Kalt has (FF on/Fast respawn) These things always make me want to play on a server, because they provide extra things to enhance game play. Personally, I don't like Flash, but if there are some people in game (especially pubbers) trying to get it going, I'll hop in and get killed a few times in an attempt to fill it up.
