mic problems

my mic is not working now when on vent and on css the quality is pretty bad to okay. I got a sennheiser pc151. Before i started playing on my new 24in monitor my mic sounded great now after its been on and off. I haven't touched any mic settings in a long time and my computer still detects it

Sometimes the settings get switched via third party programs such as vent, skype, or a game. Check the voice tab under the sound settings to see if your mic is selected as default. Also, sometimes it may take updating the sound or headset drivers.

sound drivers up to date, all settings default and thats how they've been for the longest time

having the slightest feeling i broke my mic after i dropped my headset violently

Yeah it is probably bad. I would recommend going to walmart and getting a cheapo one. They may not have the best speakers in the world, but you dont need duct tape or have to buy new ones when you drop/step on it.

Only way to test this theory is to get another mic you own and see if it works. Do this before spending money on a new mic.

You have a spare mic laying around? most ipod headphones have built in mics.

im using a webcam mic that is decent buts its only temporary, i think i'll be getting a new one sooner or later
