So, there I was earlier today, minding my own buisness, when I hear the "you've been disconnected from the server" tone. I log back in, and promptly get this message:

Failed to open input device. Another program might have it open already. rc = -10

Now my mic icon in Vent won't light up when I press it, an I've got no outbound sound (no one can hear me).
This is troubling because I had no other applications open that need the use of the microphone.

Please help!

Did, but now it won't connect to Ventrilo at all (after allowing me to be in for a whopping 10 minutes).

Remove Vent. completely and re-install it. Check your mic on sound recorder to see if its working. Usually something gets bogged up in the registry so a clean install should fix it. Save all the server information, though.

Kind-of off topic, but what's with Ventrilo server randomly crashing?

We get a lot of traffic, and it sometimes crashes in a series. One of the few downsides to being one of the most popular gaming communities.

MacArther, did you ever get the issue fixed? Be sure you have the right input device selected in options; hell, even re-select it just to see what it'll do. You can try wiping and installing Ventrilo as previously stated, but I'm not sure that its a Ventrilo problem.

Yeah. Apparently, restarting my laptop did the trick....sometimes I wonder if my laptop is doing these crazy things on purpose to spite me!
