We have just finished stuffing ourselves with turkey and the drowsiness is overcoming us. With December comes a Holiday frame of mind. During this Holiday season leadership, just like the rank and file, will spend time with their friends and families. With less supervision from leadership, members are reminded to act like the mature community we are.

Despite the turkey coma, we still have much to report. There have been many changes within our community, as usual, and you can find out about them here. One of those changes is CS:S Council member Ill Legend has moved over to a Technical Council slot, and we wish him the best of luck in his new position. USCG Hammer also assumed the mantle of Director of Operations. This and many more things can be found throughout this newsletter. Enjoy reading, and have a Happy Holiday from everyone on the Newsletter team.

Meet the Leadership

mtlnovember.png

By Nosh

This month I had the opportunity to chat with Slazenger. He is an Operation:X Advisor for ARMA 2 and Red Orchestra 2. I have also had the pleasure of playing games with him and he instantly made the group more fun.

Nosh: When you aren't inspiring the OP:X division, what do you spend your time doing?

Slazenger: I'm currently studying at the University of New Hampshire with a dual Psychology and Justice major.

N: What are your job aspirations with that combination?

S: I'm hoping to get into some level of law enforcement. Whether it's forensic psychology, investigation...or even being a patrol officer. A lot of options.

N: Who recruited you into eGO and how did they go about it?

S: Viruz, an old-time friend that I've known for five years joined eGO and invited me to join after I left my prior clan. He touted it as a "no-nonsense clan".

N: Who influenced your admin style the most and in what way?

S: My admin style was definitely influenced by a combination of Duality (who I've always considered to be an inspirational figure in leadership) and my prior experience...tempered tolerance, understanding, but I won't budge.

N: What is the first game that you remember loving?

S: My first PC game was Delta Force...and all of its subsequent expansions. It had a very different community than today's games. Every server you played on people would say "nice shot", "good game", and just had really good sportsmanship. It's been about 12 years since I started PC gaming...but the changes in the community are quite noticeable.

N: I started on the PC with the original Warcraft.

S: Old-school.

N: I had to put in my friend's telephone number on the game and it would dial into his house then we would play each other modem to modem.

S: That's great.

N: So what games are you most excited about right now?

S: ArmA 2 has been dominating my life...it's something that really harkens back to Delta Force - a tactical shooter that involves strategy and patience. Also...Skyrim and Assassin's Creed: Revelations...hard to get away from them. Some of my favorite series.

N: Whats sports team are you following these days?

S: I'm a Boston-sports team fan... If they come from Boston, I pay attention to them. Our teams don't always perform the best...but the attitude and dedication of the fans makes it great.

N: Now for the lightning round. Favorite TV show of all time?

S: Stargate SG1

N: Favorite Band or Artist?

S: Tom Petty

N: PC or Mac?

S: PC

N: Favorite Food / Meal?

S: Beef Stroganoff

N: Anything else that you want our readers to know about you before I let you go?

S: This community offers all sorts of games and servers. But don't play just for the games...play for the people you meet. I've turned a lot of friendships I've made in eGO into real-life friendships... and it's always proven to be beneficial.

Xbox

Many =(eGO)=™ members play on a little black box. What is this technology? Well, depending on your preference, Microsoft's Xbox might just be the best console on the market.

Although =(eGO)=™ does not have a division specifically for Xbox; many of our members still play on consoles. This is a community for gaming and if you have an Xbox, then why not play with your fellow members on that format? There are over 500 members who have linked their gamer-tags to our website. Doing so will help you find some of your =(eGO)=™ brothers and sisters to join you.

Check out yhr Xboxers here.

Every month we will accept proposals for the Thread of the Month from you. The only restriction is that the thread must be found on a public forum. The winner will receive the TOTeM award.

For the month of November we are proud to present the TOTeM award to C-WHiT for posting e-Bullying.

While you are there go up a level and check out the other great threads on that forum.

Send your own proposals for the December Thread of the Month as links in a PM to Quaffer, Attention TOTeM.

Nominations will be accepted until December 29.

Thanks to SapphireBunny for designing this beautiful TOTeM award.

Personnel Service Center

The Personnel Service Center has seen good numbers for recruitment in 2011. Overall recruitment has been greater than last year. Last month, Counter Strike Source had the most recruits however, Battlefield was a very close second. A special congratulation goes to MachineGunRush for being the top recruiter for the month. The PSC would also like to congratulate all of their members for doing a tremendous job helping =(eGO)=™ grow and become a stronger community.

The PSC would like to mention that in the coming month, there will be a special event for all new e ranked members. The event is a holiday themed meet and greet. The details have not been finalized so keep your eyes on the forums for more information.

Finally, the PSC would like to add that they are always looking for new eG’s and eGO’s to join and help with introducing new recruits to the clan. PSC members are there to help new members learn what eGO is about. All it takes is a cheery attitude, helpful spirit, and a little bit of time.

Since PSC Division Leader Cullman is such a huge jeopardy buff, we had him pick from a few categories. He said, "I'll take "ways peanut butter is famous" for $2,000" The question was , "What is Nu?'.... Do you know the answer?

Battlefield

By: Dayman

The Battlefield Division has taken on a new look this month. The first full month since the addition of Battlefield 3 has ended and December is looking to keep the good times going.

There have been minor problems with servers going down, but they are now stable. Another problem has been team-stacking. The Battlefield Division would like to point out that this is against =(eGO)=™ rules. Everyone is entitled to a fair game while on our servers, so please switch teams or politely ask members to switch teams if you see an unbalance, even if this means playing against your friends.

In the first month of recruitment for Battlefield 3 there were over 40 new recruits. This is great for a brand new game. The division would like to see even higher numbers for December.

There is currently an Alienware tournament starting in December. Alienware decided they wanted to have a serious tournament for Battlefield 3. This tournament involves hundreds of teams from all across the world and if you win the preliminary tournament your team will receive an invite to the final tournament. The team that wins the final tournament will receive $2,000. =(eGO)=™ has a few different teams entered, so hopefully one of our squads can bring home the cash. Good luck to all the participants.

The CoD Division would like to congratulate all of its members that were promoted and/or received an award at the launch of MW3. A special congratulations goes to DragonD for his promotion to Advisor.

You can always join the CoD Division in their weekly events such as Modded Monday, Noob Night Wednesday, Spec Ops Friday, and Royal Rumble on Sunday.

Counter Strike

By Commando Vlaskiyov

For this jovial month of December, I had the chance to talk to iamevilbear about the happenings in the Counter Strike division. He reports:

Recruitment for =(eGO)=™ biggest division is doing well, and the quota is being met. There will be a new recruitment drive starting soon, so keep those scouts handy and warm.

Events-wise, the CS:S event team is looking to host a Christmas event at a yet to be decided date, with all that holiday cheer amid the flash-bangs and para-rushes. There will also be an increase in the admin training schedule for the big influx of new administrators.

To close, iamevilbear had this to say: “I’m excited about the Jail server, and the changes that are being made. I hope to see you all there as we take it to the extreme with fun. Plus there may be some special field promotions in store for those of you who have been nice this year."

Day of Defeat

An Interview with DOD:S Division Leader jeod66 and Advisor MegsATagger

Superglue: Jeod66, there has been a big wave of DOD:S awards recently, do you have anything to say to those who received an award?

Jeod66: “We'd like to congratulate everyone who received an award and thank them for all of their hard work and dedication to our division.”

S: Are there any specific awards / members who deserve special recognition?

J:“Stormy and London for the DL Commendation. The last time I checked, DLC was the award with the fewest recipients (other than Founder or the Member of the Years).”

Jeod66 also gave me a sneak peak at some projects that DOD:S leadership has been working on. Note that these are musings, and nothing is certain:

J: “We're trying to get recruiting back on track here and looking at Admin Training changes as well in the future. We are considering an advanced curriculum revamp, but we're not sure on that.”

S: MegsATagger, there are two new events for DOD:S. Could you please tell me a little bit about these events?

M: “The first event is our Hardcore Rush map event. We use specific maps that are best for close-quarters combat and usually have only two or three cap flags. First team to cap out wins. The other event is our Beacon Tag event. It's the classic game of tag, when you are beaconed, you are it. It's a really fast paced game, especially when your team works to protect you.

S: When are these events?
M:“We switch off and on between the two events every Tuesday @ 5pm PST/8pm EST.”

S: Who is in charge of running these events?

M: “Boyle and I are in charge”

S: Who came up with the ideas for these particular events?

M: “Silent_Predator came up with the Rush maps event and Hardstyle4Life came up with the Beacon Tag event.”

Special thanks to MegsATagger and jeod66 for taking the time to fill us in on the goings on in the DoD:S Division.

Eve

CCP, the makers of Eve Online, have just released a new community-focused expansion called Crucible. If you've never tried out Eve before (or you no longer play it), now is your time to give it a shot. Normally, you can get a 21-day free trial; however, now CCP is offering a 60-day trial.

Many players were troubled by CCP's plan to integrate a money system that would allow players to use real currency to buy in-game items. This led to riots and destruction of infrastructure (in-game of course). CCP got the message; the update puts many simple, player-loved features back into the game. The Crucible Expansion features enhanced graphics, community designed ships, and engine trails.

Check out the [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HrrVDV_NsNo"]trailer[/ame] or the official announcement.

Operation: X

diiQ9.jpg

By Muffinz

Operation:X has been having a great month. The recruiting numbers are up, especially with more and more members switching to Op:X every day.

Star Wars the Old Republic has brought a lot of chatter to the division. Many members who participated in the open beta said that it was a very enjoyable game. Op:X leadership believes that the game will be a great addition to the growing division.

Arma2 just finished up their first season of training. The next season, Operation Arrowhead, is scheduled to begin in January or February 2012. So keep your eyes peeled in the forums for developing news. If you haven’t tried Arma2 out yet you can get it for free on STEAM and play with everyone on the server (however, the pay version will be required for operation Arrowhead). So if you have a hankering for military simulators then this game is for you.

Red Orchestra 2 servers could be doing better. The servers took a bad turn when they lost their ranked status. Since the status was restored it has been harder to fill the servers. Leadership has been keeping their eyes on a Vietnam modification of this game, and they expect it to be a popular and exciting.

Overall Op:X continues to grow and improve each month. It's an outstanding, friendly division and if you haven’t tried any of their servers out, you should. Also make sure you hop into Vent for a chat with some of its interesting leaders and members.

Strategy

The Strategy Division is proud to acknowledge the recent promotion of Cyprias to Advisor. He has been instrumental in keeping the Minecraft server up and running for a long while. He has also helped bring up the new Minecraft 1.0.0.0 server and map. For all those minecrafters out there, come try out the new server. It has an enormous map that will allow everyone to find a perfect place to build.

World of Tanks is running strong in the Clan Wars battles. Time and time again they have pushed back against insurmountable odds and have held their own. If you enjoy World of Tanks, or are interested in more information on Clan Wars, you can find them gathering on a nightly basis in Ventrilo.

Company of Heroes is getting its legs under it now. Two Event Coordinators are busy creating and running events for this game. These events are being held at times which are both Euro and US friendly. Please check out the Company of Heroes forums if you are interested in getting involved in the events.

League of Legends is gearing up to run with newly created competitive teams. They are going to be entering tournaments wherever they can. If you are interested in playing League of Legends (a free game), join their Ventrilo channels. Joshcash and Lava are waiting to guide people new to the game through its intricacies.

Star Trek online has released the Free to Play game dynamics on its server. It is gearing up to go Free-to-Play on January, 17, 2012. If you are a Star Trek fan, or are interested in a Space based MMORPG find our current members who play the game in Ventrilo.

World of Warcraft
By Meades

Presents, eggnog, and fighting a big dragon. 'Tis the season to be playing World of Warcraft. With the Feast of Winter Veil quickly approaching, WoW players are getting into the spirit. From fighting the Abominable Greench and turning into a snowman, to sending presents to your friends and questing for Great-father Winter, WoW has "Decked the halls".

The Alliance side is up and running again, with some very notable accomplishments. The most noteworthy accomplishment is having their PvP team reach the fifth highest rank in the server. Along with this exciting accomplishment comes another momentous happening, Officer Deathmane has been promoted to O. Congratulations Deathmane!

And fighting a big dragon. The new 4.3 patch for World Of Warcraft has brought about many new and awesome changes! The new patch has released three new dungeons, Well Of Eternity, Hour Of Twilight and End Time. Path 4.3 has paved the way to fight the dragon of all dragons, Deathwing, with the opening of the new raid "Dragon Soul". A challenge worthy of only the mightiest heros.

Team Fortress 2

By vudu

At the December 10 Team Fortress 2 Division meeting, Leadership announced several server changes. Two servers have been removed due to lack of recruiting and participation in the division. TF2 Leadership hopes to bring them back as soon as server rankings pick up. Usually, there is a short lull during the start of the school year. However, the lull appears to have extended into the holiday season.

TF2 has also scheduled its first Annual 3v3 Tournament. It is a King of the Hill Single-Elimination tournament. To win, a team must win 4 rounds or have the most wins at the end of 30 minutes. Teams can have 4 players on the roster. To register or view the full rules and prizes, click here.
