went to log onto server around 9:30/10 est. last night and had to wait more then 10 min in que. i was 135th in que, this worrries me it wasnt even the weekend yet and the game doesnt release for another 5 days ( since yesterday). will this get worse and will it become an issue ? thoughts plz

great game so far, not a big fan of waiting on long lines in rl. deffinitley do not want to make a hobby out of it.

It's a new game. A lot of people have preordered it. Queue times are to be expected. 10 minute wait is nothing. Pretty short, actually. When it's more than 30 minutes, that's when I'd start to worry.

Well as of 10:00 PM tonight, the server has an estimated wait time of 40 minutes.

unfortunately my *poopy* home network took a dump and i got disconnected from the server during a mission.. now im stuck in this 45 min queue yayae

No.....come on thought they would of fixed the queue in beta, they know how many ppl r gonna play this...ARRG BS

Guys when WoW first came out there were plenty of times when you would sit in a queue for 15 minutes in order to play the game. Sometimes at peak hours the queue would be longer. Once WoW's popularity reached stability the queues were gone. Bioware will figure it out but you may have to deal with queues each time you log in for about a month. After that the players who are there just to preview the game will be gone and the more dedicated will be the only ones left.

Yikes, was thinking of playing a bit before bed tonight... but not with that monster queue. It's a bit concerning considering we're still in Early Access.

There were people later that night that waited over an hour to get in.

From the official game blog:

We know there have been questions about the queues on the servers, so we wanted to take a moment to give you some insight.

In order to ensure that the service would be smooth and stable, we staged how we brought people into the Early Game Access program, adding people in waves. As you know, there are a lot of folks who want to play the game right now and we want to make sure they have lots of people to play with. Balancing this with figuring out when to bring new servers online to help alleviate the size of the queues is part art and part science. On one hand, you do not want people to wait too long – on the other hand, you want to make sure that people have a dynamic, engaging community to play with for long after launch. Either way, we have one clear objective – to make sure folks have fun.

While we can’t promise that there won’t ever be queues, we can promise you that we are taking this matter seriously and constantly reviewing them to make sure that they are manageable and reasonable.

Their taking steps my left nut.

This is pre-launch time. It's now 12:am and I wanted to log in for a few minutes and guess what, at friggin' midnight I have a 15 minute que. That's not a good sign.

Seems after every "wave" there is more lag also, I had hardly any type of lag problems in beta like there is now but I am not losing hope it will be fixed I do believe that.

I'm not experiencing any lag... granted the only time I was actually able to get in was 12:00 p.m. yesterday... lol

From the news post, they're saying two things: during this pre-game access, they're recording statistics and such so they can gauge at what point in time or population do they need to release new servers to even out population queues. And on the other, they don't want to flood the list of available servers to depopulate and cripple servers with lackluster activity. This is most likely in regards to what happened to Mythic's Warhammer Online, when they had too many servers available at launch, and not enough players to populate them all moderately, forcing them to merge the servers together (and in some cases, overcrowd them, further crippling the population crisis to both ends of the spectrum, overpopulation and depopulation).

The problem is, opening new servers this early on won't alleviate the problem. People won't want to scrap their level 30 whatever they've just burned on for the past 4 days to start over for the sake of a login queue.

They need to beef up the individual servers' architecture instead, giving them better population-holding capability. We already have zones that split into multiple phases/instances/whatever you want to call them, make that number until a split smaller, spread zones across more physical CPUs, etc, etc.

Like I said, I'm getting the impression that this Early Access is being used by Bioware to gauge how populations grow and at what point they need to unveil new servers to mitigate overcrowding. BW did a poor job at explaining what the purpose of and the effect Early Access will have on the participants.

I like your idea Branaddar, but I don't even know if BW can even do that without rewriting the coding. At the very least, I think it would involve a major update for them, and that may not be a goal of theirs in the near future, on top of the other projects, updates, and patches they're working on now.

You guys complaining about queues really need to calm down. The servers were most likely all soft capped meaning their maximum populations were reduced during early access to determine how the queueing system would work and if it in fact did work.

Also this is a very hyped up game and a lot of people have been waiting on it. You cant expect Bioware to have no queues with a huge game like this. Yes there will be queues for the first few months until things settle down. Be patient and wait for your turn. Its not like 15 minutes is a terribly long wait. WoW had queue lines back in Vanilla and had queue lines for every expansion for the first few months afterwards until it got resolved.

They will work this out and get the servers squared away. Just be patient and deal with it for now.

The servers are fine Brann. The soft capping and early access was like a larger beta testing to see how the servers would react to a large amount of people. With the soft caps removed the servers should improve.

I really dont see why do many of you are making a huge deal out of this... is this your first mmo ever?
