24/7 metro and what it's become...

at least until leadership makes their decisions on what the next set of servers changes will be and ppl start trying to fill up a server, like air maps would probably stay full if we got like 8 ppl to hop in there and start it up because it has a 5 person startup thing

I like that idea. People asked for them but they aren't willing to fill up the servers. If you don't start filling the servers up consistently we will either change them or lose them. We are watching which servers fill consistently and which ones don't. Those that don't fill consistently will be changed.

The majority of the division plays HC. We changed half of our servers to HC. Yesterday, we tried starting up Air Maps 4-5 hours and, at most, we got 20 players on it. Granted, it crashed and it's the holidays, but we decided to start up the rush rotation and it took 30 minutes to and hour at most to get it started and it was rocking and rolling for 5 to 6 hours.

We are listening to our members and we will try anything in order to keep our current servers. But it all boils down to the individual member of the division. As harsh as it sounds, the majority of us is guilty of going to a populated/full non-eGO server rather than to try and get ours started. Granted, certain situation and unaccountable events can occur and you can't play, that's fine. Maybe you have only a couple of minutes to play before you have to go to an appointment, that's fine. But when you see players on your friends list play on a non-eGO server for an hour or two while our servers are empty, that's depressing.

Here are some suggestions when you're trying to start a server:
Buddy up in Vent and go for a couple of rounds with pistols and knives on a server. Honestly, it'll take like 6 - 8 people to get a server started (and I mean getting it populated) and going pistols and knives, although challenging, is fun. If a couple of pubs connect to the server, you can ASK them to participate, but the don't have to. Remember: it's against EA's terms of use on ranked servers to restrict weapons and kits, but that does not say that everyone on the server can't unanimously agree to omit certain weapons and transport for a certain amount of time.

Or if you're going to use your computer for something else, you can idle on the servers. We've turned the idle kicker off on all of our BF3 servers, so unless the server crashed, it won't kick you for idleing. If you know you're going to be busy for a bit typing up something, taking a shower, or cooking, you can idle on the server.

Every little bit helps guys. If you're tying to start up and fill a server, you are stepping up and you're helping us keep and, eventually, expand our servers. If we can, let's try and end this year and start hit next year with full servers.

Yeah, i know I make a lot a lot of comments about the HC piece, but that is only because since we made the switch a few weeks back, they show empty more than full (at least during the hours I play). I will do my part to fill them and I think if everyone did, it would be a mute issue. Also, if they were full, I would be quiet as a mouse....I just hate to see us lose a server that's all. The bottom line is I want us as a division to have full servers....a LOTS OF EM!. I don't like HC that much, prefer normal, but recently I have been playing some HC just to try and help the servers out.

I'd hate for use to change a majority of our servers to HC because a majority of players play HC.....yet a majority of our players don't even use our servers....because in the end EVERYONE looses because we have empty servers.....

thats why i dont play on 24/7 metro if i have a choice; its boring, causes me headaches, full of ppl that just sit there and fire m320's without ever firing their rifle, and sure its good to level stuff quickly but its not worth the pain and suffering from playing on it. but thats just me, i dont enjoy playing on there regardless of how fast i level stuff
Every other map i get sniped, no tanks or SMG's....just snipers. That is why i mostly left this game.

M320 in Metro 64 player is so good that even though I never use it (have only like 40 kills did it for smoke and later for achievements) it is the reason I almost always sit in #1 place. Just throw a medic kit down and watch the spam point. Also I get to revive lot more than they get to kill. But eventually even that gets boring. Now I usually go to places where they prohibit M320 and such nonsense spam (cough *TOS* cough), apparently I score even better. Leveling up guns w/o having to worry about random noob toob is great.

May work better as a 24/7 single map.

should turn it into a hardcore server, will attract a lot of people with the quick respawn addon.

Yea um, a single map 24/7 conquest would not work better than air maps, metro only does because its a legit stat pad map, ppl tend to get very bored of a single map server and leave after 2 rounds or so.

And can ppl stop calling to change every stupid server to HC, its getting on my nerves so much, ive ranted on this topic and leadership's response is DROP BOX it. Its kind of silly to say turning air maps into a HC server would help it, i can almost guarantee its not the issue, the issue is not getting fully started up without crashes, as music said they got a fair bit of ppl in but the server crashed so if tonight, lets say we get ppl together and manage to get it full, i promise it will stay around that amount crashes permitting

We also made the switch right at the end of Battlefield 3's honeymoon period right when people were leaving to try other new games that had come out (*ahem* skyrim *akem*) so that will also explain the drop in server popularity.

I was wondering where you had been.

Don't worry. I will not let us have all HC servers. Currently I like the 50/50 spread between normal and hardcore.

I honestly love metro. If our server wasn't reeking of usas m320 and nade cheese unlike other balanced servers are, metro can be a very tactical push and pull strategic map. But 64 players, 1k tickets, and instant respawn is a recipe for disaster. It's not the map's fault but our server configurations.

i think metro couldve been a much better conquest map if they had made it include the starting area and added vehicles and maybe some extra areas to it to allow tanks and such to work, it might be better. in the end you cant get around the fact that metro is straight up designed to be a rush map

I dont agree, its all about the team, people are too used to easy flags where they can walk in and capture. Metro requires real teamwork and thats where many people have a problem. Most of the time people sit in the back and use rockerts etc just to get their k/d up. If they play for the team and actually move up strategically you can capture points in metro. I would go as far as saying that metro, if played properly is the most fun conquest map. It was the most fun map in the Alienware tournament for sure.

Metro is a fun map, but its so simple to cap the points as U.S and just spawn camp the Russian team. It's still a good map though, I won't lie about that.

you cant deny the fact that battles in metro always boil down to around B, teamwork only really counts in the very beginning to rush B and take it b4 the other team
