So I've been thinking about the ending of Portal 2 and Half life episode 3. And I just had an awesome thought about Episode 3. We know that the events of portal 2 happen during half life 2, and portal 2's ending was very conclusive. However what if Chell is going to be in Episode 3? Imagine how cool that would be as the only question I really get from portal 2 is what happens to Chell now? That would also help explain the extremely long wait for Episode 3 as they would have to have waited until portal 2 came out. Maybe I'm just crazy and have wishful thinking...

Thoughts?

I remember some guy from valve saying the characters in Portal and HL will never directly cross. Also, Portal 2 is generally believed to be set quite a while after HL2, due to the fact that Portal 1 was set during the portal storms in the 20-- years and in Portal 2 Chell was given a looong while to rest (enough for the place to grow infested by vegetation)

I proposed this theory awhile back, when Valve released that article saying that they were getting more into using co-op to enhance game experiences. It's probably not going to happen, but it would be really nice.

That's all fine and good but Portal 2 takes place years after the events of Half-Life 2.

Actually portal 1 takes place during the combine invasion of earth. The time lapse between Portal 1 and Portal 2 is unknown. Although I don't think you could have survived forever in the relaxation chamber, and the system that says you've been in here for "999999... 99" does not give a unit of time and as it's broken is probably inaccurate anyway. However judging by the overgrowth and what not I would guess around 20 - 30 years which would actually put Chell is the perfect position for Episode 3.

Honestly, a direct cross would ruin the series in my opinion. A portal gun in Half Life wouldn't fit. I love both games, but somehow combining them doesn't seem right. Plus, I swear Valve said Portal 2 was 200 years later at one point or another.

Not a portal Gun, besides Chell doesn't have the portal gun anymore. I'm saying just an appearance, or that Chell becomes part of the resistance, not taking a major role like Gordan, just present.
