I have a single amd 6970 and i am planning on getting a second but the one i currently have is running at the normal operating speeds so if there is anyone who has overclocked their 6970 and i wish to overclock it but i dont know what settings so.

If you could please tell me

What is your fan speed %?

What is your GPU clock speed?

What is your memory clock speed?

Getting a second 6970 is pointless, and a huge waste of money..

When running in Crossfire setup, it doesnt have much performance boost.

Just Overclock it. Im guessing you have the non-OC version. I have the OC version, here's my settings.

Core clock: 900mhz

Memory Clock: 1400mhz

I dont mind the fan speed, as it changes all the time. I use MSI afterburner to monitor my GPU.

My Maximum temps when playing BF3 at max settings, is about 60-66 Celsius.

It is not a waste of money if you run at a high enough resolution (1600p or >), but if you are fine with the fps you are getting, then a second is pointless. Crossfire scaling of the 6000 series is actually quite impressive and is about 85% or greater. So if you need it, then it is worth it. If not, then you might as well hold off. Overclocking is fairly easy but no 2 cards overclock the same. A mild overclock should be reproducible, but for an actual guide, searching the google should yield fairly straightforward steps to follow.

um? proof?

6xxx CF scaling is almost linear, usually 80-95%, hardly nothing.

The 2nds a waste? hilarious ... I actually have 2... Not 100% scaling but close, better than nvidia scaling... Not wanting to start ati nvidia crap... But reflex and Huck are right

You should get a water block for ur 6970 and small liquid cooling system rather than a second 6970, and then you can overclock more

Hmmmm yea that is a good idea but i heard that they are coming out with the new 7000 series and a 7970 would be epic but if i dont do that then i will probs get a waterblock

Well, if you're "Hardcore" then its different, but for me, a casual gamer playing 1080p resolution, it will be a waste. One 6970 is already more than enough.

For me of course. Its all up to you.
