HDMI Problem

Plugged in an mini hdmi to hdmi from Geforce GTX 570 to my monitor. I switch over to HDMI from DVI, but it only shows the desktop with no icons and no taskbar. But if i switch back To DVI its back to normal. I've tried different settings in my nVidia control panel, changing resolutions. Even tried changing displays.

Geforce GTX 570
16 gig ddr3 ram
Samsung T260hd Monitor

Any suggestions?

Try restarting your computer with the HDMI cable plugged in, rather than the DVI cable.

If you installed the drivers from the CD that came with the graphics card, they are probably out-of-date. Install the latest drivers for your card from here.

If you have Windows 7, you can easily change displays by pressing Winkey + P. Test out the "Computer only" and "Projector only" options; see if this fixes it.

Nevermind, got it straighten out. Had to set display to multiple monitors!

If you used both DVI and HDMI, Windows reads that as two monitors connected, and the first cable plugged in (DVI in this case) will be seen on as the primary display and HDMI as second (since you plugged that in after DVI). Just to give you some further understanding (though I suck at explaining things).
