Those of you who have been a part of eGO for a while know of my infamous posts on topics such as recruiting, server filling, and other things. It’s been a while, and today I’d like to cover a few things I’ve recently been noticing. All of these concepts sort of flow together, so I’ve had difficulty putting them together: some things might not be labeled perfectly; for this, I beg your pardon.
I know many older members may not have Battlefield 3, and newer members not have Bad Company 2, but I’ve stressed it before and I’ll stress it again: we want to keep the servers we have, and possibly be granted more. Right now, a majority of people are on break, and I understand that family comes first: eGO stands for this. However, not one of our servers has been full (that I know of) for a number of days, despite attempts at filling them. Now, think about it. While I know that Metro tends to be 50/50 among our ranks, overall it’s our highest ranked server and needs to be treated such. Fill smart. Don’t get me wrong: I enjoy all three of the other servers, but Operation Metro attracts pubs the quickest, and if we dedicated our forces to filling it, we’d be able to move on in no time. According to Gametracker, the order from most to least popular is as follows: Metro, HC Conquest, Air Maps, HC Rush. Some of you may be gawking at your monitors, but in the long run it makes sense: Metro has been extremely successful as a stat-boosting map, Conquest includes ALL maps on 64 players, Air Maps has jets and choppers, and Rush, sadly, has only 32 players. However, if one server will not fill after give/take an hour, it isn’t wrong to move on and try to fill another. In the end, I think it boils down to everyone filling the same server. While it’s great to try and fill all the servers, 5 people per server making half-assed attempts compared to all 20 people filling one looks goofy. Hell, Rush would be more than half full with that many. Also, while you aren’t required to play exclusively on our servers, and I understand wanting to play elsewhere with no activity in our own servers and no backup to assist you, keep checking back. Be in Ventrilo. This is our primary communication for filling servers. Check Battlelog invites, parties, and platoon pages as well.
I’m out for you again, and I’ll even admit, lately I’ve been off the scene. Recruiting isn’t hard, but the hard part comes with retention. Get to know your recruits. Using that information, tailor yourself to their needs and your common interests. I don’t care if you have to hack them, but get them on Ventrilo. This is by far the best way for them to gauge their success in eGO and keep them around; sometimes recruits will still disappear, but no one is 100% successful and you must realize such going in. Look for team players that follow our rules, but accept anyone, as long as they show interest and can comply with our rules in the future. Without new recruits, our division dies: that’s the cold, hard fact. Despite my recent attempt to offer prizes, still no one has taken the bait. In a perfect world, it’d be great if 50% of our division recruited one member a month. If those recruits went on to recruit, our size would increase exponentially. Realize this, and try it.
While Rush has often been a popular gamemode amongst our members, especially in Bad Company 2, I think we need to realize that it will never be as popular unless it also allows for 64 players. Since eGO has already discussed this and decided against it due to the chaos which would ensue, is it practical to have a Rush-only rotation, or could we later add in another gamemode, as well?
B. More Opinions
I plan on becoming more frequent with my posts like this for a while, and maybe making them shorter. However, I can’t restate all of it over and over again without being redundant, so please use this information and pass it on. Our division has promise, but we need to unlock it by reaching our full potential. By having members of other divisions play alongside us, we gain more knowledge of our organization as a whole, but we must remember that to keep going, our division needs our lifeblood. Without recruits, we lose interest, and activity in the server. Without substantial servers, we lose the servers, and our division dissolves. Is this what we want? I don’t want to exaggerate or be dramatic, but this is the road I see our division heading down without change. Don’t take it as an insult, but as a reminder. A little optimism will take us far; believe in yourselves. The time is now, and it isn’t too late. Yet.

I. Server Filling
III. Food for Thought
A. RushWhile Rush has often been a popular gamemode amongst our members, especially in Bad Company 2, I think we need to realize that it will never be as popular unless it also allows for 64 players. IV. Don't!*
- On conquest maps (especially metro) Do not cap all the points! Why would I want to stay on a server with so few people just to get spawn camped or not be able to get out of spawn? As an example for Metro, If you are on the US side and have good players then only cap up to B and do not go outside to the Cafe. If you are on RU side then only cap to B and do not go down the Escalators/Stairs. Of course we cannot control/enforce whether pubs break these bounds while filling a server. But they will most likely not be able to cap the point or lose the point without the support of a few members on the team staying back (eGO members)
- Do not team stack! Example: having all eGO members on 1 side versus pubs
- Do not vehicle hog. Or rather I say no vehicles until there are a reasonable amount of people on smaller maps. On large Air maps it is understandable because those maps are made for vehicle warfare. But in my opinion, vehicles should not be used until there are at least 10 players total on Seine Crossing, Grand Bazzar, Teran Highway, and Damavand Peak.
