Ok so i got some new parts for christmas

Mobo 760GM-e51
CPU AMD FX 4-core
RAM Corsair xms3 8GB(2x4GB)

I got everything hooked up correctly... it has been checked and rechecked. Nothing wrong with CPU or RAM. But it just wont POST.

Any ideas?

The board only supports DDR3 1333. In the bios you can let it clock itself down by choosing 1333 on the frequency adjuster.

Also, I'm not sure if a bios update is needed or not because the FX series isn't on the supported CPU list.

Yeah the FX isnt compatible. Is there anyway to deal with this? Or do I have to get a new motherboard.

And the ram is 1333

Another alternative would be using M-Flash.

If you have a USB flash drive, you can download the bios upgrade and extract it on the drive.

You either have a defective MOBO/ram or maybe your RAM isnt compatible with the motherboard. I suggest taking the ram back and getting 8 gigs that are compatible. XD

Wasnt it already determined that his motherboard doesnt support the processor he is trying to use. If there is a bios update to add compatibility you would prolly need to to see if someone you know has a cpu that is compatible with your motherboard so it can be booted and bios updated not sure if its possible without a cpu in it. Atleast without any special tools, or maybe a computer shop around you could help out. Or return the motherboard and get one that specifies that it supports your cpu.

Yeah there is a computer shop near me that my dad has been going to for a LONG time since before he got the p4 i just got an upgrade from... but they arent open until monday so i have a long weekend ahead of me.

But if i flashed the bios with another processor do you think it would work?

Its killing me i need this PC to start working SWTOR keeps crashing on my sisters laptop.....

Hey Jake,

Unless you have a spare compatible processor that is compatible with your mobo, there's not much you can do. I would suggest contacting the MFR to see if they can do an Advanced Replacement (they ship you the part and you return yours). This way you can get the system board with the latest BIOS version, and then return the one that doesn't work for you.

Usually they will require a credit card number, but they wont process the card unless you fail to return the board. It might be worth a shot, but it's still going to wait until at least Monday. Many businesses in the states are closed on Monday, so it might have to wait even longer.

Jake if the latest bios for the board adds support for the fx cpus yes then it should work if not then its probably a hit and miss kinda thing. If that guys shop is open monday thats probably what i would do just see what he says, if he cant do anything then return the motherboard

hey nothing is ever easy, atleast for christmas you got new parts now you just gotta get whats needed to make them work beats not getting any parts at all. We could trade xmas gifts if you want i got 3 piles of dog poop on my living room floor for xmas and thats it lol

Don't forget to check RAM voltage I have to up my RAM voltage (to what my RAM requires) or my computer doesn't boot.
