When I used to play hockey these brothers that were on my team had a hockey rink in their back yard. It was pretty cool but was hard to take care of properly so you pretty much had to use an old pair of skates if you wanted to use it otherwise it would mess up the blades on the ones you used in games which wouldn't be good.
Nope. We leveled the land a couple years back, and put up the boards. We used to flood it with barrels, but we found it's much simpler to just use a sprinkler 24/7 for several days.
Once there is a a thick enough layer of ice, we have a zambonie (a water tank on wheels)
It looks like that but much, much bigger.
And Ramp, unless your friend's rink was made out of rocks and nails, it shouldn't have affected your skates more than a regular rink.
