So I'm working with a media group and we have run into a recent issue. At one of our test recordings we were having MAJOR quality issues on the video, and it so appears we are downgrading our cameras to the point where they have major quality degradation. We are trying to find a easy and price efficient way to run HDMI, Component, or USB video over long spans of space. As far as I can tell all of the methods listed above have cable length limitations so they can not span great distances. Does anyone know of a way we could solve our problem? I'm currently looking into Cat5/Coax adapters for USB and HDMI, but we also run into the problem of once we adapt the cables how do we feed them into our mac book pro to edit them?

Not sure what kind of lenghts you're talking about here.

Also, are you talking about streaming the video directly to the mac or storing it on the camera and then getting it over to the mac?

We would be streaming directly into the mac. We have a program called Boinx TV that we would use as a mixer and live feed. The lengths being used would be potentially the length of a basketball court with lots of slack needed for camera mobility.

Ah, this might be outside my line of experience then. Coax or ethernet cables should do the job just fine. As for getting the signals into the mac, there must be a some sort of converter available. Never tried plugging a camera directly into a computer with anything other than USB.
