Good Laptop?

I've decided that I want a laptop, i personally like them better and i really dont want a fourth desktop at home so while i was browsing NewEgg for laptops I came across one that caught my attention and I just need some help, I'm wondering if its a good laptop. Mainly for Star Wars TOR, Empire Total War, Far Cry 2, WoW, Saints Row 3, STALKER, etc. etc

Upgrade a desktop for like 500$ and then get a netbook. You'd probably get a lot better performance and still have a nice netbook to surf the web school etc etc

I have this laptop but with 750GB 7200RPM HDD and a GT 540M. I am very pleased with it as it can max most games cept MW3 and BF3 at the native resolution so the 550M will probably perform better and being a Core i7 its gonna last a while too. I upgraded it from the 4GB it came with to 8GB (4x2GB) and it can do up to 16GB which Ill get to eventually :D!

ASUS makes great products and if you register you get a year accident forgiveness warranty (something like that) so if you drop it or anything you can have it replaced.

Well, getting back to the subject at hand, since he/she wants a laptop. The MSI you picked out is really nice so is the laptop that Rogue suggested. Its give and take with laptops. 4GB of ram and a better video card, or more ram, but I want this size screen, or do I want the better CPU,etc. I have a Gateway NV7901u that I got about a year and a half ago and I love it (still). I had to give a little on size for the parts I wanted (there was a 15" model as well) but it was well worth it, especially for what I got at $850, which was a lot better than comparable ones at $1000+.

I found a comparable laptop that I thought was ok. Better CPU, 1333MHz RAM NVidia 540M, and it just got a price drop.

gaming on a netbook blows...hard...been there.


unless you can find a 22" laptop, you are going to have to use a 13-18" screen when gaming on a laptop....
 
Yes, you do not game on a netbook. This is why I said to game on a desktop. You use the netbook for other stuff besides gaming at school.
 
newegg had the m17x with 5870's for $1150....looks like there all gone cuz it was such a good deal

anyways, yea don't game on a netbook or anything....i have a macbook air for college, tried playing source and it just sucks
