In my spare time over the weekend, I decided to try my hand at custom sounds. I made these 2 custom "End of Round" sounds.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Uploaded to Mediafire. All the stuff you need is in the .rar file. link: http://www.mediafire.com/?3h2cuvqitwuq2n7

EDIT2: Well my old lose sound didn't really fit losing. So I made a better, more epic one.

EDIT3: Link to the above sound is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ljqlh6aav98392l

The loosing one doesn't sound unhappy enough, but I like the win one.

Out of curiosity, how do you make your own custom sounds?

yeah i know the losing sound doesn't sound sad enough. my original idea for the audio for it was too quiet so i switched to this audio.

oh and to make your own custom sounds it's pretty easy.

1. find out what sound you want to change. (for my end of round sounds they're your_team_lost.mp3 (and .wav) & your_team_won.mp3 (and .wav) you can find this out by downloading a program called GCFscape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26)

2. navigate to the folder steamapps in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ and open team fortress 2 content.gcf. find the sound you want to replace.

3. rename the audio you want to use to the one you want to replace. (ex: rename "sample.mp3" to "your_team_lost.mp3") put the audio file in its respectful folder.

4. go test it out in-game.

Extra Tips

TF2 audio format is a 16 bit 44100hz .wav file. Your audio has to match these settings or it will not work.

For audio in the misc folder found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\bleachfreak216\<YOUR ACCOUNT NAME>\tf\sound you have to have the .wav file and an identical .mp3 file in the same folder of the same name.

If you need an audio editing program to edit the audio to your liking, I'd suggest Audacity. It's free, and it's powerful and versatile. (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

IMPORTANT: Stay away from sv_pure servers if you're gonna use custom sounds. It'll either crash the game (if you have too many custom sounds) or the sound will be extremely messed up. (It will seriously hurt your ears.) If you are planning on joining an sv_pure server, you'll have to remove the audio files from their respective folders first.

I agree with oey and i love to have the win sound

I'll upload the audio if it's in popular demand.

EDIT: Apparently I don't care about popular demand so it's up anyway. (see original post)

If people really want these sounds I'll consider uploading them. I'll also consider completing requests for sounds from other people.

Oh wow these are great goz, the win one would have been like twice as epic if it faded out at 0:22 though.

yeah it feels kind of prolonged. it's not too much of an issue for me though. i'll shorten it if people keep complaining about it but wanna dl this.

EDIT: now have 2 versions of the winning sound, the original without fadeout and the version with fadeout around 0:22.

Being on a Mac, the above link didn't help much, but I found two that did.
Required tool
.gcf viewer

Anyway, with that I was able to browse team fortress 2 content.gcf, but was unable to find the winning/loosing sound files.

But thanks for the info and thanks for the download link

why couldn't you find the winning/losing files? it should be in the misc folder of the sound folder in the tf folder in the team fortress 2 folder.

I like the new lose sound much better

Download link is now in my original post. ;D

Ah. Now I see them. Thanks!

And I agree with shiznoe. The new losing sound is much better.

the new lose almost beats out my michael scott losing sound that im using

The Win sound is very awesome. A little long, but awesome nonetheless.

The second/new Lose sound is great, but I kinda feel like it doesn't fit the idea of "losing" still. It's makes me feel something else, I just can't put my finger on it.

yeah i know the win sound was kinda long. so i made another version of it that's shorter and fades out at around 0:22 - 0:25.

i thought the new losing sound fit losing pretty well, but at the same time if you used it for a win sound it wouldn't be any different.

im going to assume that it's this:
