Commentary and Thoughts for the New Year:
Admin Training - We would like to welcome Superglue and Border Control Agent to the Admin Training team! eGs and above are encouraged to complete our admin classes, which include Unified Admin 101 and Advanced Admin Training. Please visit the Admin School section of the forums for more information about upcoming classes and the Request Training subforum. We will be holding private 1-on-1 classes as well as the normal large classes centered around promotion lists. In addition, we will be reviewing and revising the Advanced class curriculum very soon in order to help better teach our admins the "tools of the trade."
Events - The DoD:S division witnessed numerous changes to its events in 2011. We phased out Monday Melee Madness and Tuesday?s Quick Draw events in favor of Thursday?s Wild Card night that allows members to choose the evening?s event. With the removal of two weekly events, the DoD division needed new events to entertain our members and motivate our division aside from Thursday?s Wild Card Night and Realisms on Saturday. The DOD:S New Event Competition allowed members to submit their ideas for new events, and after lengthy trials, two winners were announced to alternate on Tuesday Nights-- Hardcore Rush and Beacon Tag. Additionally, leadership chose to create a simplified weekly itinerary post that notifies members of upcoming weekly events, holidays, and other important dates in one central location. The latest changes also included a decision to host monthly Admin Roundtable discussions following the example set by the Op:X division.
Realism continued to grow and evolve in 2011 with a renewed emphasis on the previous year?s creation of Realism Campaigns. In 2011 the Realism Campaigns took on more depth by allowing CINCs and Tournament Admins to incorporate the history, structure, and insignia from real military units that fought in WWII on the Allied and Axis forces. The history adopted by each respective team tied in excellently with the concept of realism and allowed members to become more involved in the Realism Campaigns both in-game and on the forums by having custom avatars, signatures, and rank insignia. 2011 also had changes to Realism rules like the adaptation of mobile machine guns, the shortening of rounds, and other changes to the campaign that have made Realism more enjoyable for participants.
Interdivisional Affairs - Admins: If you play in other divisions' games often, you should consider taking their Advanced Admin classes. Everyone: That means "be smart in other divisions' games", all-inclusive. But I need to point out two in particular: CS:S Jail and Strat's Minecraft. (Why? Because I got appointed "Official Jail Liaison" by Slayr357 to handle all DoD/Jail related issues, and I hate having to deal with those.) Thankfully, the number of DoD-related issues with those guys has dropped off in the last few months - and I'd like to keep it that way. We DO NOT have a vendetta against any division, only a friendly rivalry with CS:S at worst. Play smart, everyone. After all, if there was to be war, we would announce it publicly and get everyone cranked up to go beat down the enemy, just like we always do

Leadership Changes - I won't lie: It's been a tough year for us with the revolving door here, but we're certainly up to the task. I'm honored that two DoD:S DLs (Spray and C-Whit) have been promoted to Council positions, and that 19.1% of (non-Council) eGO Leadership and 35% of the Strategy Division leadership team started out in DoD. We must be doing something right around here!
With this in mind, there have been a lot of changes, and we would like to thank you all for helping us get through all of these transitions with your support. It's not easy to move chairs around so often because things get lost in translation, but we're doing our best to keep DoD going strong. Please welcome our newest Advisor, Lungbuster4417, and congratulations again to our new Council members!

Recruiting - In 2011 the Day of Defeat division continued to set the examples of dedication, determination, and adaptation by recruiting 527 new members into eGO and the division. Although DoD is an aging game, our division ranked third place for recruiting out of all divisions. Blue Stealth, DoD?s head recruiter, created numerous guides and threads to help recruit, direct, and assist recruiters and new members. Recruiting drives in the last months of 2011 led by members like Sumac have helped boost our numbers, motivate our members to recruit, and ultimately helped DoD beat CS:S in recruiting for the month of December. The effort put in by all of our members into recruiting has been spectacular, and your dedication is what keeps our division strong.
