Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say hi from the COD division. I just picked up BF3 so you should start seeing me in servers pretty soon. My name is COIZ in COD and in game but that was taken for BF3 so I am Coiz139 in Origin.

I had a lot of issues with the game crashing 2-5 minutes after starting. This was on a fresh install of W7U on a SSD. Lots of info on the net so I made sure all my drivers were updated, increased my virtual memory and changed a bunch of settings but I kept getting the crashes. I eventually disabled Origin while in game and that seemed to make the biggest difference.

Now instead of crashing every 2-5 minutes, it lets me play for almost an hour before it crashes and it seems much more random. If anyone has any suggestions to reduce the crashes, I would love to hear them. My four different versions of COD have never crashed once so dealing with this in BF3 is discouraging.

Not sure if I want to deal with getting my admin for the BF3 servers yet because I need to learn how to play it before worrying about admin but since it runs PB I assume they are the same basic commands as in COD4? Do you guys have separate admin training? Who is the person to talk to about getting admin status?

Anyway, from what I've played to date this seems like a really cool game and would be awesome if I could get it to play without crashing. I look forward to seeing you guys in server.

Cya on the battlefield then as soon as the next BF3 update comes out. I am currently playing World of Tanks

Welcome to the Battlefield, add me up on Battlelog and lets fight soldier :P

The commands are not really the same. Punkbuster has different versions for different games, but some of the commands do overlap. If you're crashing...well, there are many different issues with many different solutions. Good luck getting it to work; I see disabling Origin is working so far. See you on the battlefield!

To get admin training, apply to the BF - eG and BF - eGO user groups and look in the admin training forum for admin training threads. Yes, you do need separate admin training for Battlefield (like you do for CoD).

Still dealing with the random crashing but have a good feel for the game now so I will be looking to get my admin status for BF3 soon.

I currently have a HD4850 but just bought a GTX480 that should be here tomorrow. Fingers crossed that will take care of my crashing issues. Nothing like playing for an hour in a map just to have it crash two minutes before the end so I don't get credit for anything, very frustrating. Nothing like spending hundreds of dollars just to be able to play a $60 game. :facewall:

Hopefully your new GPU will add a bit of stability to BF3 so that you can enjoy the game in peace.

See you out there :)

Welcome aboard, hope to see you on the servers.

Thanks guys.

Got the new GTX480 and get a blank screen on boot up with no digital input. I have a feeling my power supply is lacking. It wants 600W and +12v@42A minimum while mine puts out 550W and +12v@42A max. Going to test the new video card on a friends computer tomorrow. Assuming it works on his comp that's another ~$100 to upgrade my power supply. Just hoping the end result is being able to play without it crashing. Fingers crossed.

Sadly for me, the crashes happened on my old rig, and now my new rig. I have done alot of searching, and it seems there are a pretty good amount of players having problems crashing without a real good reason. I've read a few times it is one of the things they will patch soon, but they said that 4 patches ago.

It has always been stable for me so I wish I could help. I am usually suffering from crashes with games, if it is prone to it (Skyrim.....sigh, that was awful until it was fixed) but I have not had any issues with BF3.

Yeah, my friend hasn't had any problems with crashing on his rig either. I've played COD4, MW2, Black Ops and MW3 for literally thousands of hours(check my achievements) without a single crash yet BF3 does it constantly.

I found a thread with over 6,000 people who clicked "I have this problem too", many of whom have rigs much more capable than mine. I just figured it couldn't hurt to upgrade my GPU since it was on the lower end of the minimum requirements. I started with a fresh instal of W7U on a new SSD and it has snowballed from there.
