Meeting People

Why

  • Meet Admins who can help you later
  • Lots of cool people
  • It's human nature
  • Everyone was new at some point. Don't be afraid if someone is a higher rank than you.

Where

Steam Group

We send out most alerts through here. Please do not create your own eGO related group.

Events

Events are held almost every day and they are a great place to meet new people. You can find a list of upcoming events on the calendar. The TF2 Steam Group has a list of upcoming events. Make sure to join so that you are alerted automatically.

Ventrilo

Ventrilo is another way to meet other eGO members. You will often times find folks hanging around. You can ask your questions here or just hang out to chat.

Forums

Being active on the forums is a great way to know people. You might try posting threads about funny videos, great skins, stories about playing on the servers, or DIY TF2 costumes. Don't post threads like: "I miss the _____ server", or "GameME sucks".

For leaving/absence threads such as "I am back/sick or will be gone/afk until ___ because of ___": You may create a leaving/absence thread, but it will be closed after 24 hours. This should give people enough time to take notice and learn of your leaving/absence. It's recommended that you update your signature, and you can even include a link to the thread you made so people can see it.

Other Divisions

You are welcome to play with any of eGOs divisions. If you own other games, feel free to browse those parts of the forums, hang out in ventrilo rooms, or play on the servers. You can find a master server list here. If you are an eG or eGO ranked member, make sure to request access to their private admin forums, get your admin working, and keep up to date on their division specific policies.

Orientations and Clan Meetings

Clan Meetings are generally held on the LAST Sunday of every month. We also hold E Orientation meetings, administrator roundtables, and divisional meetings. To find out when, check the calendar.

Event Coordinators, Admin Trainers, and Recruitment Hosts

There are three principle teams involved in the efficiency of operating the division. Event Coordinators host events for everyone's entertainment. Admin Trainers are responsible for teaching both the basics and the finer points of how to be a good, effective administrator on the servers. Recruitment Hosts chair recruiting drives and specialize in helping others build up their recruitment skills. Membership to any of these teams is a mark of distinction, reflecting one's maturity and potential as a future leader. To see the membership of these groups, check the rosters.

Leadership

Need to contact Leadership? You can send us a message in the DropBox or find us in Ventrilo. Most eG and eGO members can help you too but don't be afraid to come to us.

Council is responsible for ensuring that all divisions within eGO run perfectly and that our membership is informed and happy. All policy is handed down to the clan by them either directly or by delegation to the Division Leaders.

Division Leaders are the highest level of leadership for each division. They are wise, trusted members whose opinions help shape policy within eGO. They report directly to the Council.

Advisors are experienced clan members, essential to keeping eGO running. They are the first level of clan leadership and are the GO-TO people in the event of a problem. They report to their Division Leaders.

No One Around

Demos: Good for cheating or microphone abuse. Learn how to record a demo. Then, submit a ban request.

Screenshots: Good for bad sprays or chatbox abuse. Learn how to take a screenshot (preferably in JPG format).

Warnings: If there are no eG or eGO members on the server and you have tried ALL of the above then you may issue an UNOFFICIAL warning.

  • Do not threaten
  • Say please
  • Say thank you
  • Use the offender's name
  • Use good grammar and spelling
  • Do not use abbreviations

Good example:
Kevimaster, please do not cuss on our server. Thanks!

Bad example:
Yo, can you watch your mouth or ima get a admin to ban you. TY

All About Servers

Stats

The master server list shows all our servers. You can find a stat track list here.

Special Commands

Rock the Vote: On Valve Maps, we have the RTV mod installed. You can type the following commands:

  • rtv - one vote towards starting a server wide map vote
  • nominate - Select a map to show up in the server wide map vote
  • !revote - Re-choose your vote (useful if you accidentally hit 1 when the vote comes up)

GameME: All servers have GameME installed. You can issue the following commands:

  • /gameme - GameME command menu
  • !gameme_vanish 1 - eliminates GameME points messages

How to Idle / Seed the servers

You can help us make the TF2 servers more popular by idling.

How To Get Promoted

a) Follow the rules. Follow them on the server, on the forum, and in ventrilo. Whenever you are wearing eGO tags, follow them even if it's NOT on an eGO server.

b) Help fill the servers. Help recruit. Help out in general. Have a good idea? Is there someone we should keep an eye on (good or bad)? Fill out a DropBox post. This is your best way to get in touch with Leadership directly (besides Ventrilo).

c) Regularly play on eGO servers of your division. If you find yourself playing other games, consider changing Divisions. You can do this by PMing the Division Leaders from your current and your future divisions. Once your application is approved you are expected to be wearing your tags BEFORE joining the server.

d) Be Mature. Don't confuse maturity with age. Maturity is how you act. Be respectful.

e) Be Active on the forum (don't spam) and ventrilo. Attend events, clan meetings, and division meetings. Meet people. We can't promote you unless we know who you are. The other e, eG, and eGO members are the ones who can put in Promotion Recommendations.

f) Don't ask for it. If you are not on our radar then you are not active enough on ventrilo or the forums. If you are on our radar and it's for a good reason then a promotion will come in due time.

g) Have fun. This is super important. This is why we are all here. If you aren't having fun then it's time to step away.

h) Don't let people use your account. You are responsible for your account. If you get banned because your friend was swearing in server under your account, you will still be held responsible.

i) If you are an eG then answer the admin scenarios. This is a good way for us to gauge your readiness to be an eGO.
