I would love to get back to playing CS:S but I dont know the answer so plez help if u can!

Sounds like a software problem (to me) what are your computer specs? What's your fps look like in game? Also how high is your ping?

Also it would be nice to know what programs you are running other then steam, like are you downloading stuff, msn, stuff like that.

Yeah, close background programs that shouldn't be running. And make sure you got a password on your router. Someone could steal from your wireless and run down your internet. or send you packets and stuff.

Close as many programs as you can that run in the backround. I have a pentium 4 processor, and I close Skype, and my internet browser. I wouldn't open unnecessary programs, unless you have a good CPU, since a good CPU can handle skype, and a CS:S game, ventrillo, etc. I would also like to ask, what CPU do you use???

(I would also reccomend ctrl+alt+Delete, and go to the processes, but BE Careful, since some programs may STILL be running, even though you close it)

I hope I helped you out.

Well my ping on the eGO jail server is about 400 and im not sure where to find my fps but I think I found my computer specs but im not sure what to look for. Thanks!

you can find it by typing "cl_showfps 1" (without the quotation marks) in console. If you don't know where console is, you must enable it by pressing escape (while ingame but when on start screen of CS:S skip this)-->Options-->Keyboard-->Advanced-->Then check the box for console-->Console will now show up when you press this button ( ` ) which is below the escape key.

go into your steam folder and delete the folder of your account name, will take some time restarting CS:S hopefully this works, it is the most common fix for most errors and problems

net_graph 1 will show you your fps. If it is choppy then there could be a problem with your cpu etc. Could also be your router is not working correctly, another member was just talking about that today.

Also as to your computer components CPU-Z will tell you what you have exactly. Please post what you have and you OS.

Gamebooster could also help you to free up memory. It's basically a program that will close down other programs like skype oovoo etc that uses up your memory and cpu usage. Or you could use task manager to end all of the extra programs.
