sound is not working

you know the headphone jack on computers? the green ones? well, mine is not working. i have come to the conclusion that it is the audio jack itself and not my mic or any pair of headphones.

i guess my question is this: is there any way to fix this without having to take it to a repair shop or anything?

Firstoff, Have you tested your headphones on any other deivce to confirm they work? Second: When did it stop working, and has it ever worked before? Third: Have you tried reinstalling your soundcard drivers?

1. i have tested multiple headphones on multiple devices, and it's only the computer that isn't working.

2. it stopped working last summer, but it wasn't really a bother for me until now, for whatever reason.

3. idk how to reinstall soundcrad drivers

search device manager and open it up then look for ur sound card drivers, then take a look and see if there anything wrong with it, and indicator (some kind of symbol), if there is no indicator then it is not ur drivers

where would it be under the drivers list. i assume sound, video and game controllers, but all that's there is my speakers...
