I'm wondering if anyone else thinks the Dust 2 server is a bit hard to play on. It feels like 3/5 shots actually register a hit, or worse. Is there something I'm missing? Anyone else have problems with it?

I'm only like 60% sure it's not me just missing. I'm not a great player, but when I play on other servers it feels like I'm using a *lot* less ammo to take down players.

Edit:
I feel like a jerk now since it seems the server was just upgraded like two weeks ago.

IDK about this, but if it is true, it might just be steam.. steam has been quite odd these past months will all the updates. Steam also has a problem with the radars in css.

Do you have your rates updated?

I have it set in my config to where mine automatically update to cl_updaterate 66 cl_cmdrate 66 and rate 30000 whenever I start css. My ping is always between 18-33 (while living over 1,000 miles away from the server host) and I rarely have registry issues.

cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate were both at 66. Rate, however, was 9999. Gonna try this out and see if I notice a difference. Thanks!

There should be a difference now that the Dust 2 server allows a max rate of 30000. More data is allowed to transfer from your client to the server and back, which includes shot registry. But bare in mind that with a large server with many clients, bullet reg and player delay is inevitable.

Turns out it was just me. Changed rate to 30000 and noticed an immediate difference. However, my framerate dropped from a 200+ average down to about 150, with lows <60.

I'm gonna go see if I can find more useful information about config stuffs. Would be good if there was a sticky guide here to help my clueless self as well as others.

I found an excellent guide that covers a lot of topics pertaining to your issues.

The human eye can't tell the difference between 60 and 200 no biggie

Well, including the fact it stays full with as many players as it has, you dont expect every shot to register do you? lol :chair:

There's no need to feel like a jerk, you didn't know. We all get frustrated with shot registration every now and then. We appreciate you asking and you've even gotten some good tips in response. No harm done ;)

Well the server isnt the best and it holds 48 players so naturally it wouldnt have the best registration, and yes you are right about it taking less bullets to kill in other servers
