Bad news about hard drive prices

So I receive emails from CompTIA SmartBrief, which informs those in the IT industry about the latest thats going on. I just received this real unfortunate bit of news & really feel the need to let you all know about it:

The title pretty much sold me right off the bat (I frankly havent even read any further but I will). I will say that I am real disappointed with our IT industry with the fact that theyre not willing to bust their chops to get things taken care of quicker. Needless to say, I will not be getting a regular internal hard drive anytime soon (unless I find a really amazing low price with great specs to it).
 
yea.....thats why Seagate stocks rose so much weeks ago, they made revenue and beat earning despite flood
 
I might bite the bullet on this one...I need a new hard drive and the 600 series seems so appealing....even if I don't have a pcie3.0 board :cursing: This old IDE is dying on me and I need it replaced lol
 
I just wanted to say that in September 2011, a "Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 32MB" hard-drive costed €43 from a Irish website (Dabs), within 2 weeks, the price shot up and is now €126.

When my friends heard the news, they were shocked that this happened and as of today, it's only went down to €122, which is still insane imo.

As Snipeye said, hopefully by the end of the year, this whole mess would be over and that we will start seeing prices going down soon!
 
I bought 5 2TB Seagate drives for $70 each on 10/11/11, just days after the flooding started. I'm so glad I grabbed them before the prices almost tripled. :thumbup:

Imagine how much money you'd make if you were to sell them now at a discount? Say $200 for each now, $150 profit per less shipping fees... You'll make $750 less S&H. I lucked out too, having bought a HDD during Black Friday back in 2010 and never used it. Came in handy when I built my new PC in December last year.... :laugh:
 
yar, but I put them to good use. I just hope they don't fail anytime soon, buying replacements will suck. :bored:
 
Wait for Q3 Q4 prices will be back to normal... As far as sdd's I have been watching them closely and there prices are dropping used to be $2-3 per gig now as low as 70-90c per. yea thats no were near Hdds were at 10c per gig before Thailand's flood. supply and demand

pcie 3.0 will most likely make little difference for 600 series in gaming situations as was shown to be the case for the 7970. We are not quite there yet, so you should be fine without the latest and greatest.

Computation might see some improvement, but that is about it.

Sucks for everyone looking to build a PC. Hopefully by Q3-Q4, prices will begin to "normalize" and decrease back to what we're used to.

Hey Snipeye, I was referring to eGO having this article posted, not posting it on another site. I always make sure not 2 duplicate an article unless I make a simple mistake (which has happened only once).

Ya, overall im waiting on ssd's to both go down in price more as well as have more storage available on the devices themselves in general.
 
I lucked out with a 2TB drive. My brother got it a long time ago, and it has been sitting in a box because he was too lazy/forgot to return it. When he went into the Air Force, he pretty much said all of his belongings were up for grabs, and I just recently returned the drive. Whoo!

No, I got it. I was just saying, this news was already posted a day earlier then when you posted it in the forums. You need to be faster! :P
